I've never made a visionboard ever. I absolutley agree with you on the newyear resulutions. Its like saying i'll start at 3pm but missing it with a minute and than: i'll start at 3.15. 12hour drives still boggle me. Im 2 countries over by than. Not sure how big of a fan you are of the salt flats. There’s a side road just past the joshua tree that takes you about 15 miles off the main highway. No light pollution, perfect for meteor showers. We’ve gone several times and always enjoyed it.. heads up though, you’ll have to keep your speed around 15 miles per hour on the side road as it’s very rocky, we’ve had a couple flats for people trying to go too fast. Worth the isolation though.

I haven't made it to the Joshua Tree area yet but I'll definitely check it out for star gazing or a meteor shower :)

Good evening, Sara! I enjoyed watching this vlog and hearing about the experiences you got to have. And I hope you're able to do some writing for Book #2 of "Project DE" this year at some point or start writing on another idea that comes to mind. I'm re-writing my Paranormal/Horror story right now because it didn't sound good with reading some of it. Anyway, have a goodnight with sweet dreams and happy writing. ❤

Love your vision board Sara! The idea of including photos you took yourself is so cool. I definitely want to remember that the next time I make a vision board, maybe for my one in 2026! I did make one for 2025 and I am so in love with it (did it old school with cutting out images and phrases from magazines and gluing them on a poster board). I didn't have anything too much in mind while creating it; I let whatever I found guide me. But some turned out to be so wonderful and really resonated with me and what I am hoping for this year! And a lot of them are already coming true as well. My favorite things on my board are two sayings that I cut out. One is: "the best time to trust your instincts," which is something I am hoping to get better at this year. The other is (which I still can't believe I actually found!!): "and I was doing the writing" 🤩🥰

This video inspired me to make a vision board! I absolutely loved making it so thank you! I put some pictures about traveling and exploring the city I live in. A huge part of my board and goals for this year is building community so I put pictures about writing groups and book clubs. The other section of the board was about my goals to cook and bake more!

I love this! I haven’t made a 2025 vision board yet as my 2024 vision board is still very accurate for where I want to be. But I did come up with the word “intentional” as my theme for the year. I want to be more intentional with my writing, my time, and where I put my energy. I also love using photos I’ve taken as it feels like you’re looking at a polished version of yourself instead of a stranger!

This is a Godsend, I love working in service as a creative. I'm 23, dropped out of college after a couple of months both times I tried to attend and now am a customer services agent who coaches and trains (new) colleagues to become better. I have enjoyed becoming very, very good at what I do. The highly trained soft skills I developed while in this field were an unexpected aspect, that turned out to be the exact type of development I needed at that time as it fueled my confidence in myself as part of society. The thing you said about encountering stories is SO. REAL. A huge chunk of (published) fictional, storybased media are these mosaics of real life people, experiences, places, moods, atmospheres and stories, as told by the writers and poets that know how to. Artists are the translators of society's soul, which requires our storytellers to actually be a part of society apart from the creation of art. I'm leaving this job in august to move to Portugal for a year in september, hopefully joining the "Culinary Arts" program at a tourism school Lisbon. It's also in the field of service, but I'm instead following the dream I've had for years to be trained in a specific field of technical skill. I've always wanted to be trained as a chef but held off on it because I don't want to work as a professional chef (the lifestyle would never work for me I think, but I guess we will find out!). This year I decided to say fuck it and apply for the experience and the sake of following my heart and passion. I'm sketching out a rougher plan to getting into "higher" education after finishing the course to follow my passion for learning, researching and developing in fields that truly interest me. And after that? I might work in my field of expertise as a writer, professor, researcher or consultant. I might realize I'm done with the field at that point and go back into service at a "higher" level and in my personal time, live as a creator and a lover of life, stories and the arts. I most of all plan to enjoy the present and the process of learning academically, and developing soft/hard skills. Life is too juicy to not squeeze it until the last drop. Who knows where it takes me, but for now I am following my heart. I used to have this aching feeling of responsibility to "change the world", and I kind of am, in and from my square kilometer of the world. I won't know how big I can make an impact on the external, until I follow what lights me on fire internally.

231,172. Wow, I have so much to say. First, congratulations!!!! Second, the fact that you or organized enough to keep track!! Third, fun fact, if you divide that number by 52 (as in 52 weeks) you get an angel number 444, so week by week, you are on the right path and have a solid foundation to build upon. And fourth, gee, I thought this video was kind of ... wordy. Okay #4 was uncalled for and terrible even by my low standards. I'll apologize and show myself out. 😁 Congrats Sara, I can't wait until DE is published!

Great video, as always! 2024 was a good year. I love looking back to see how far we've come. I started about 6 different projects last year, some anywhere from one chapter to 60 manuscript pages. I finished one draft at 123,000 words, which was a major win! Now, I'm balancing time between revisions and starting something new.

Also love the sound of the 30/183 writing goal Some personal 2024 accomplishments: - Ran my first half marathon - Started DMing for the first time with a group of friends (hope you enjoy D&D!) - Finalized a 2-year long research article and applied for publication - Slogged through grad school apps

I will try this method but instead of chapters I'm using 3 act story structure beats as a timeline. With 3-4 pov's and 3 manor plots throughout the whole series the beats will fall in different places And my (half plotter half) pantser mind can't figure out the beats when I just free wrote the first book

I think the "time away from your project" is extraordinarily important, and an awesome tip! I've found it to be true with other creative endeavors (i.e., piano, sketching) that taking time away really helps your brain focus back in on the important pieces

I think I've been following you for about 2 years now. I can tell by the way you present yourself that you have developed tremendously through the completion of that last draft of DE. And in this entire five-part series it looks like you sincerely enjoy what you're doing, you come across as an expert on it, and there is a lot of joy that is conveyed in the message. It's really cool to see that within you and I look forward to what unfolds next for you! 🐉

This video is so helpful and I'll definitely rewatch this when I get to the revision stage of my book. I just have one question if you could answer? How do you go about finding trustworthy beta readers? Especially if you don't have many friends to read your book, like me. I only have 1 friend and that's obviously not enough 😅

Hunting for weasel words with the CTRL+F function is one of the most satisfying things about editing, as is discovering how many weak words I use or abuse. I color "finished" paragraphs in green, continuity errors in yellow, and mechanical concerns in blue. I place symbols at certain beats of the story so I can CTRL+F for a dollar sign or a percent sign to help me jump effortlessly between sections without a lot of excess scrolling. But reading one's work aloud is seriously a game changer. We write to appease our eyes, or secretly, our high-school English teachers. Reading it aloud--slowly, like an audiobook and with feeling; don't drone on like a freshman reading Shakespeare--tells you where the words trip or fumble, where sentences run on too long or where the reader might stumble. I think of writing as coding a simulation. The end result should be a flawless program, with no breaks from reality. The reader forgets they are reading.
