season 3 wasn't cancelled, it was never planned for to begin with. Wouldn't make any sense for the story to have another season either.

It was really nice listening to this interview! The discussion about burn-out was something I really relate to when I did freelance animation, due to overwork. I'm happy that it isn't the standard everywhere, but since such a lifestyle is still looked up upon in some parts of the animation industry (and in some animation schools as well), it is something that has to change.

People with this type of thinking are what's ruining Hollywood and the video game industry.

Keep your fuckin business to yourself. I was sitting there watching that with my kids and all the sudden that happened. Let kids be kids and keep the identity politics out of their stuff. The world is strange ASF

@LadiDaProductions keep your bedroom business to yourself and out of kids cartoons. If you want to tell people who you are and express yourself that way go do that in your own activities. That movie was not the place for that.

It takes courage to be able to open up publicly in this, respect. Honestly, it's nice to have someone talk to the other side of life as well.

I've seen a snippet of this conversation on social media and I was hoping to catch the whole thing as soon as it goes up! Apparently my algorithm knew about this since it just popped up on my start-page. I love the vulnerability and honesty about personal as well as industry related topics. These are really valuable insights for newcomers to the animation industry (like me) so thank you so so much!

Great interview! I'm glad there are people out there pushing love and talking about skills, instead of pushing hate and calling it "politics" and "beliefs." :) Very interesting to hear about her path through the industry from the base up, and WOW, what a great job she did animating in Nimona! So interesting to hear a fresh perspective in the animation industry.

No what we need is a fun story not people putting their beliefs and self inserts into them, a gay character can be done well bc I like Yuri anime, but the way the West and how she is doing it, it's not tasteful in the slightest
@CjArt7815 күн бұрын
Yeah I was sitting there watching this with my kids and then all the sudden there's two gay dudes kissing. That does not need to be in kids material. Keep the identity politics in your circle and to yourself
@Sherif-the-Watcher15 күн бұрын
Exactly, take ARCANE for example. There's an lgbtq relationship of course, but its not made us the center of all things in the show. In all other Western media, it just feels forced and most of the time, it adds nothing to the story plotwise
@NezumiMaus15 күн бұрын
@@CjArt78 not only that but the. Kiss and romance literally does and adds nothing, if it's in the background, sure. I guess, but thier gay romance is never mentioned or added on, they could have just been best friends and it wouldn't be any different
@NezumiMaus15 күн бұрын
@@Sherif-the-Watcher in anime the characters know their gay, they know what they are and the writers play into in a way that they know everyone would enjoy but in the West they just add a gay character bc "oooh look thier gaaaayy" and that's. In, I love. How in Yuri anime you know the character is gay such as gushing over magical girls, but the character has a good visual design and personality that isn't just "hehehe. I'm homosexual" utena literally just love magical girls a little too much to the point where she explores her sexual fantasys and fetishes on them. And the anime is more than just "hehe sex jokes" there is an actual plot that makes it even more interesting watch. Nimona is still a good film and I enjoyed it, but my god the gay rep was just not needed at all

I feel that this could be fixed if the left pan was faded from sliding pan into rotational, around her as the axis point. So as she falls you stop sliding away from her and begin to move around her vertical line as she goes from horizontal velocity into the vertical drop, there is a forced perspective that needs to be adjuted for because of that wall movement and her movement as you pan away on a liner plane.

I feel like saying, "you need to love it" is just an excuse used within the industry to get away with all the negative things that go on in industry. Like the abrupt layoffs that recently happened in Pixar, or the sexual harassment if you're female, or the massive overtime that happened in Into the Spiderverse. Saying 'you need to love it' is just encouraging the abuse that goes on in the animation industry. You need to love it, because you ARE going to suffer, and nothing is going to change. Is basically what is being said. And I disagree. I think it sounds like a really toxic work environment, and I think the entire animation industry needs to change.

As a reminder, Canada was that "other" market that sucked a ton of vfx/animation work out of the US, which was a contributing factor that prevented the US vfx market from unionizing. The animation guild exists only because it was founded in the fifties, when the talent was concentrated in one place and the studios had no options.
