Definitely a boot legged recording, as it doesn't show the piano player and Dave Holland on the bass is barely seen. No professional videographer would ever shoot a video like this.

It's so funny. The first time I heard Scofield I knew he likes Grateful Dead. Awesome that he covered a couple of their songs.. BIG LOVE to this guy

I saw this live. I loved he kept the melody a "secret" until the end of the song..he is such a master, I ve been going to his concerts since the '90s.. For this particular group there was a midconcert surprise, that drummer could SING ..super soulfull very good..He started singing halfway the set and it was a big surprise since he was so darn good .... Apart from being an OG guitar player Sco always picks the best players for his particular projects, they always fit and complement the whole group and songs..!

The highest resolution on KZbin is 320kbps which is nowhere near Hi-res. The name of your channel is extremely misleading.

It’s always great to hear John Scofield’s take on a well known song written and established by other another artist. He has the ability, creativity, passion and talent to make it interesting and special in his own unique way, paying homage to it’s roots with his sincerity.

Wow, John Scofield playing a Daryl Hall song. Sco sounds amazing, as usual. Actually, he plays first another song and switch to Hall’s “I can’t go for that”. I own virtually all Sco discography. That first song sounds familiar, but I haven’t been able to figure it out yet.

Thank you so much for the upload..I ve seen this concert 24 7 2022 in Amsterdam. I was very early and saw Sco loitering in front of the jazz club. I spoke to him a bit , saying I ve been going to his concerts since the 90´s and how much I love his music. I was a bit starstruck , but he seemed appreciative of my comments.. He keeps doing new things, always sounds fresh, always has a killer band with him..he is just a force of nature musically , just a very special guy with a special sound. It was a small venue and I was lucky to sit in front and be able to hear his guitar tone from direct from his amplifier instead of the PA, such a juicy tone ...rich in intonation and nuance..he played really inspired, man, he never ceases to impress me even after +30years of listening to him at live venues...again, many thanks for sharing this with us and lets hope we can enjoy his music for many years to come.

I too, am late to join the Scofield fan club. Having grown up in the 60's/70's, . . . I gravitated from pop, to classic rock, to hard rock! I played in a band in high school, with a guitarist who was influenced by the Beatles, then Peter Frampton, then later . . . Yes and Genesis. He was a great guitar player, who taught me some cool chords and riffs. After we graduated however, he sold his Les Paul, next he sold his Explorer, . . . I thought he lost his mind! Then he started buying all these hollow-body guitars . . . . Gibson Howard Roberts, Ibanez 2335 ES-175, etc. He began listening to George Benson, Pat Metheny & Larry Carlton to name a few. He really got into jazz, which was cool . . . but, I didn't quite understand. Years later, as I have matured, (both musically as well as physically) . . . I GET IT!!! Sco's playing really speaks to me. The textures, the runs, the subtleties . . . just draw me in. And add to that, the fact that he's not a showboat. Jazz is definitely cool, and John Scofield is one of the coolest! 👍

Keith's tighter kick drum sound is a nice change from his previous thunderclap kick sound. It works well with the snare and leaves more room for Tim.

Thank you very much. I think things, playing and tunes like this are helping to bring more people closer and love jazz and music "per se" much more than the 95% of smooth jazz records (and a lot of really sophisticated jazz compositions and arrangements with a zillion of polychords and tempo changes per bar at top speed, in the other hand) (Just saying. I too love some tempo changes and engaging complexity, and even some tunes that score as "smooth jazz"...but sometimes too much soul is lost)

When this first popped up in my feed I was shocked. Did my favorite jazz club in San Francisco reopen after decades??!!!? I was at the old Keystone in SF constantly in the '70's and '80's until Todd Barkan closed it down in '83. I saw too many incredible shows at that tiny club. But alas, after researching online it turns out that Barkan re-opened the club under the same name in Baltimore in 2019!!

13:18 Round Midnight teaser. Hah. It just dawns on me - the title says "Late" and he looked at his watch earlier, during the drum solo. Sco probably played that teaser for the other band members, as a nudge, like, c'mon guys, let's wrap this up, it's midnight!
