Wow this was an amazing documentary. From start to finish as the storm spins up then tears into Moore/Bridge Creek to the chaos of rescuing and treating the injured. I'd love to know more how this got made. Definitely picked the right day. This was as gripping as any war footage. But its not got many viws IDKW. But that meant NO ADS!!! Perfect

Absolutely, and given that she was so scared in the events leading up to them setting up a triage, it shows how unbreakable her resolve is. I hope she's doing well, along with all the other EMS crews involved with the immediate treatment and rescue of the victims.

As a paramedic of 21 years…I saw this when it first aired and a few times since…and it is nightmare fuel every time. You can palpably feel the tension…especially at the bridge creek community center.

Crazy that it has now been twenty-five years since this absolute beast of a tornado devastated central Oklahoma. In a video on the KZbin channel for Oklahoma City's ABC affiliate KOCO channel 5; Kylie Tinneman was interviewed and she explained that she was trying to find Katie Haynes, the paramedic who saved her life on May 3rd, 1999.

Did Tony McCarty and Mike Murphy retire from EMSA after May 3 ? I saw another KZbin video on May 20 2013 and saw Tony McCarty again and just curious if him and Mike Murphy retired plus whatever happened to medic Katie Haynes?

Steven Finley shown in here went on to get his doctors degree. He is a DO. now and a AMAZING doctor. He has been my family doctor for about 12 years or more. I can't say enough the respect and love I have for him as he is like no other doctor I have ever seen, just the most caring man ever . I just spent 5 days in the hospital and he took care of me. One of the nurses and me was talking about him I told her he was a EMSA before becoming a doctor and she told me somewhere on youtube was a video of him working as EMT after the may 3rd outbreak. So being I was just laying in bed hurting I looked it up. Much respect to him and every EMT, firefighter & person that helped out. They saved many lives this day. RESPECT!!!!!!!!!

That is very interesting that you actually know him. If you are lucky enough to see Steve again maybe you could tell him that you know that he not only appeared in Paramedics Force 5 but also about helping people who had survived the Moore tornado. You don’t have to praise him for what he did as I am pretty sure that Steve being the kind person that he was would either say that he was just doing his job or that he was simply doing what he knew was the right thing to do.
@jvmiller1995Ай бұрын
@@Jaxson-q3d Brother I praise all that was involved that day. I just might had thought people would like to know he became a VERY respected doctor! He is like family to me and so many patients. Best doctor I ever had.
@Jaxson-q3dАй бұрын
I meant that if you ever see him then maybe you could ask him about it. I do agree with you. Everyone that was involved in helping the survivors of the Moore tornado were heroes both the paramedics and those who despite it not being their job still volunteered to help them such as by giving their vehicles to help transport injured people to the hospitals.

These first responders did an amazing job. Many heroes in the aftermath of that tornado. The building codes should be changed to include mandatory storm shelters for all homes in any tornado prone area.
@MichaelLovely-mr6oh5 ай бұрын
The city council of Moore, Oklahoma passed extremely strict building codes for all new structures after the EF-5 tornado that struck the city on May 20th, 2013 and seven of the twenty-four fatalities were children who lost their lives at Plaza Towers Elementary School.

My dad was in Dallas Texas on business, which is where this storm actually originated. He’s sold woodworking tools for big furniture companies and he was in a plant when they were ordered to shelter in place. Luckily, there was no tornado in the area but that was the storm that spawned the May 3, 1999 tornado.

@lynnbarker73146 ай бұрын
We need to remember that every piece of debris is a piece of someone's LIFE! they should change building codes so no building can be constructed without a safe room or underground storm shelter. Communities should be required to incorporate large, safe structures for people every few blocks. I know that is expensive but better safe than rich!!! Lord be with all who may be in the paths of these horrible storms!!!❤🙏

It was something truly difficult to comprehend and for meteorologists such as Gary England and Mike Morgan it was the absolute worst case scenario: a large, violent and destructive tornado on the ground and moving through a major metropolitan area. For many police officers, firefighters, paramedics, doctors and nurses it was a mass casualty situation that they had not seen since the Alfred Murrah Building bombing in 1995. We the people wouldn't see something on the magnitude of the May 3rd, 1999 tornado until the EF-5 tornado that struck Joplin, Missouri on May 22nd, 2011.

This is from years ago so I’m not shocked that the shelter advice was to go up under a bridge. That is the worst advice ever, though. Don’t ever do that!

We are some of the strongest people. Moore got hit again may 20th 2013 with another F5. Of course we had the OKC bombing too. But we are a state with people that care about their neighbor and we look out for each other. I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life and have no real desire to live. Steven Finley the EMT with the long hair is my doctor. Great guy!
