You should never dog ear a corner on lead. Cowboy workmanship at it best . Stop fooling your audience who know no better. If I saw you do this on my job, I would have no hesitation in sacking you on the spot. Wrong tools ,and wrong method cowboy.

All my “dressing” tools were made of boxwood but I cut them up to make the bases of stick floats in the 60ts

@@johnCollins-tm5vo I would suggest monument John, but there are plenty of dressing sets on eBay that would be fine mate it’s a great trade to get into tell him to be patient with it and he will get there.

not good practice as capillary attraction can draw water from the gutter upwards this corner is not in the lead sheet manual

Can i use this technique or brazing technique using lead on stainless steel? Will the lead ahere to the surface of stainless steel? My pan is to fill in the gaps between the gutter joints. Cheers mate.

If you take the time to look at my other videos mate you will see I am more than capable of dressing or lead burning and where I was taught it was called a pigs ear and plumbers rarely do Leadwork anymore but thanks for the comments

@@shaunatkinson694 some of our lads are on Woburn. All code 8. They moan at us like mad. All they say is it’s to thick. If you need anything. We are based in Leicester. Sand cast lead conservation. We sell everything mate. Make sure you type it in properly. As we have a sand cast lead too. But he’s a con man.

Mate that would have been better to boss the corner in and more stronger corner as lead gets drawn into the corner from both sides, you started yhe corner well should have just continued that way

Am glad someone else knows what they are talking about, you dont pig ear lead simple 👍 Go and have a look in the LSA Manuel and you won’t find that detail in lead.

There are lots of folds used in Leadwork mate welted joints etc

It’s on a listed building mate so what comes off goes back on and once it’s patinated it looks nice in my opinion
