Repeatedly sterilising the pond without a plan was our approach before the 1980s.

@@dtkoinew Here, it is common to do it twice a year, before the feeding season and before the wintering and we make plans to make sure everyone does it.

Keep trying lad you’ll find away it’s all about trial and error! What I do on my nexus is the blank plate you use when cleaning I’ve got a blanketweed one as well from the Devon koi pond on eBay. I put in a reusable veg bag from Lidl cost less than a pound I think and just slot it in. And you wouldn’t believe how much it collects. I wouldn’t advise walking away with it in just keep an eye on it because they out chamber starts to go down after awhile.

@leeoliver4063 honestly it's sit right on the bottom of the pond and with retros I believe size of pipe ia 40mm I've used nearly 3m of it and been in pond for ages and fish leave it alone and makes pump maintaince easier

The most valuable thing about this selection is that the organisers will set an example by growing the unsold KOIs in the same way. I think there is a lot of learning to be gained from this variety in particular!
