Haven’t been there since early 90s. This is how I remember the drag strip. Fun times back then.

I’m always amazed at how great the chrome looks. I mean it’s always bright and not pealing. The process was obviously much better then.

Come back to watch it again. Looks like at least part of it was really use a bunch of old derelict cars back in the day of when they were nothing more. They use them to build a Levy.

MANY years ago ('73)! I bought a '62 Bonneville ("389" 4-speed "Hydramatic") BEATEN to convert into a "Streetstock" (local dirt-track race car)! On COUNTRY DIRT ROADS, this car FLEW! I thought I had "the cats' ass"! It was "voided" by a STUPID "rules" technicality! This car COULD have KICKED DIRT-TRACK ASS!

My favorite car was the 1963 Pontiac Bonneville thumbnail car. But you had some really interesting oddballs tossed in their such as the Borgward and a couple of small European cars at the end I had no idea what brands they were.

This was 2 years before I started racing there. I see the tower wasn't painted yet and the scoreboards weren't up! Wow all that was done by 1989. I sure remember watching Lil Thumper doing wheelies.

The cars from that era were SO cool. I have a few Lindberg model kits of cars from that period. I'll get around to building and finishing the one's that I started someday... someday- the story of my life! Ugh, boy.

Interesting footage! At approximately 3.20 & 3.40 there is a spectator, a muscular man with buzz cut hair wearing a white T-shirt, who looks like Mickey Thompson, could it be him?

Not very good film quality , but very valuable historical footage! Great to see some of the cars identified too. 2021 is the 70th anniversary of the NHRA, so this early film is very valuable. Does the NHRA have a copy?

For those too young remember, the girls' scandalous attire was called "short shorts." At 1:08, I believe there is a glimpse of Bobby Langley's potent "Scorpion" dragster from Texas.
