9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:9-11

So beautiful and powerfull. This moves me every time I watch and listen. I saw this happen "live" from my home during the pandemic and I knew then that I was witnessing something very special...quite litterally, a blessing. I miss all of you and I hope you are well. Thank you for pouring out your hearts that day.

Where is the gospel? This is simply law and tangential stories... A heavy burden on your congregation. Telling people at the end that God loves them is not preaching.

Am I wrong in my understanding that, at least as of 2010, three presbyteries of the EPC do not allow for women as teaching elders? I can't find very much information about it. If what you are saying is true, how can you be a member of a denomination that has presbyteries that choose to opt out of equality for women? I understand that the EPC believes women's ordination as a "nonessential" but can't find anything more about how the presbyteries have fallen out on the subject after the new wineskins reshuffle. Thanks for any additional information!

Until you can admit from the pulpit that The Church has been part of institutional oppression and exploitation for 1700 years and ask forgiveness for that, anything else said about the church being too political is meaningless. Can you imagine Jesus saying he believes that Rome is the greatest empire in the world? I can't either. Pastors probably shouldn't say such things (or get applause for them). You can't claim we shouldn't endorse the status quo if you believe in American exceptionalism. Americans should not claim America is the greatest country in the world for the same reason Germans shouldn't. Our country carried out the genocide of indigenous peoples and chattel slavery. How many more indigenous people and slaves were tortured and killed here in America than in the Holocaust? These atrocities were carried out largely by Christians in the name of Christianity or at least with the church's tacit approval. How dismissive is such a statement to the people who are still marganalized because of the failures of our American system? Should anyone be claiming America is the greatest country in the world, even with caveats, if we have the highest rate of incarceration in the world? If gun violence is the leading cause of childhood death in this country? If the maternal and infant mortality rate is rising and much higher here than other wealthy countries? If income inequality is also rising more steadily here than Europe?

Props for asking leavers and letting them talk. We don't see, of course, what got left on the proverbial cutting room floor. But I'll accept it as progress. Church and politics: The church early on, when Theodosius basically handed them the levers of power and strings of the purse, once it got traction now went on a mercenary mission to force people to "convert." In addition to the Crusades and the Inquisition, it wooed monarchs with the promise of soldiers to help them fight their enemies IF they would make all other religions illegal. They persecuted MY ancestors, the "vikings", to where they had to flee the CONTINENT and then have the brass to call their advanced societies "barbarian". They have done basically the same thing wherever they have gone: forced conversion, murder those who don't play the game, lather/rinse/repeat. They took children from their Scottish Gaelic and First Nations homes to "school" their heritage and culture out of them. So they are very happy being the boss. I say all that to say this: Christians don't accept a plural society, at least not in the US. They want it their way beCAUSE they bought Saint Billy Graham's notion that all they had to do was clean up Aisle America and Jesus would be right back to get them. So now you have the provably false "Christian country" narrative that began in the 1950s post-McCarthyism. If you want to be a Christian (and I was for DECADES), then do so. Be the best Christian you can be. But you can't force other people to abide your beliefs. THAT is the biggest rift today and Christians don't see it. But a multipolar world is HERE. It's not coming--it's HERE and imperialism via neo-feudalism is OUT. And quite frankly, most of those clowns in Washington DC will swear to being Christians, and are some of the slimiest criminals in the WORLD today.

It's a nonsensical doctrine. Who is the Holy Spirit? He is the Father-Spirit, i.e. the FATHER WHO IS A SPIRIT ("God is a spirit"). NO THIRD GOD-PERSON EXISTS. We are sure that the Father (who is a spirit) - the Father-Spirit - is inside Jesus, to lead Him in precise manner, see for ex. "The statements which I say to you I do not speak from myself, but the Father ABIDING IN ME is doing his works.". Has Jesus got TWO SPIRITS INSIDE Him? Negative, Jesus states "I am not ALONE because the Father is with me". ONLY THE FATHER IS INSIDE JESUS! This means that "Holy Spirit" is just ANOTHER NAME for the Father who is a spirit. Confusion can arise because Jesus has the "Father who is a spirit" and calls Him sometimes "FATHER" (Holy) (generally when Himself is concerned), sometimes "SPIRIT" (Holy, of God, of the Father...) when other people are concerned. But what about the "Counselor"? The Counselor "...will not [1] SPEAK on His own, but whatever He [2] HEARS, He will [3] REVEAL.". That - even if somewhat "disguised" - is exactly the same formula used by Jesus, when referring to the FATHER INSIDE HIM! Please compare that verse to "What things I [1] SPEAK, just as the Father has [2] SAID them to me, I [3] SPEAK them just so.". This clearly means that the Counselor IS NOT the Holy Spirit, but SOMEONE (?) WHO ALREADY HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE HIM. And what about the term "Holy Spirit" cited there ? " 26 But the Counselor XXXXXXX whom the Father will send in my name, that one will teach you all things..." You can see that this verse makes perfectly SENSE even WITHOUT the word "Holy Spirit", so that that word could have been added at a later time (by an unknown little hand?). The remaining part of the whole "Counselor chapter" doesn't include ANY further reference to the Holy Spirit.
