Front kicks are used abundantly in MMA and Muay Thai if you want to see one used in an application format. Jump kicks are similarly used though less frequently in MMA and applications, however they have their place and a simple search for jump kicks in MMA might bring up Anthony Pettis' KO jump kick off the cage. In this case they're being trained for agility and coordination specifically as a training drill at a beginning level. Not the same as application. 🙏🏻

Forms are not practiced for their direct applications but to develop mind body breath or connection and provide a student of martial arts context for their system as a fighting art. Each form training something slightly unique within the system. Simple 1, 2 or 1,2,3 applications are extracted from the form for application and practiced and then adapted further for self defense/sparring etc. Thanks for watching.

👍🏻 It's a coordination and ambidexterity exercise that toughens up the hand for striking. However, slapping the face or ear stings like hell and can damage the ear drum while also being embarrassing as men don't like being slapped, let alone having the #$$& slapped out of them by another man.

@@sixharmoniesunited- My former boxing coach, a national AAU coach of the year - once told me (about 20 years ago) "there's many people I couldn't knock out with a punch - but there is NO ONE I couldn't knock out with a slap". People underestimate the slap. Look on KZbin now there's lots of videos of people getting knocked out with a slap.

When you come back to cat stance at 1:22 your rear hand goes into a crane beak. I see this crane beak behind the body all through the eagle claw form and even in the wu tai ch. Does this crane beak behind you have a application in fighting or this this position done just for a beautiful stance? Thank you Sifu! love your videos
@sixharmoniesunited
@sixharmoniesunited Жыл бұрын
Hey Viper Man, thanks for the comment. in this context it's related to the yielding away from the 9 o'clock direction and pulling. The hook hand is associated with grabbing arms, legs, throats, what have you based on the interpretation. It is pulled back behind to train the pulling power of the arm with the stance yielding to disrupt balance if it's grabbing a leg for example. It is not often used to 'poke' with the 'beak' behind you but to cup or do a general grasp and pull whatever you're grabbing in front of you. Does that answer your question? Thanks for watching, anything else you'd like to see?

@@sixharmoniesunited It does thank you very much Sifu! What you should do for your youtube channel is post 3-4 minutes videos of both empty hand and weapon sets. Then have either a link to purchase the full video or have people contact you by email. Allow them to purchase the full form. Eagle claw has like 70 forms. First everyone that watches your videos as the numbers and likes go up. KZbin actually pays you for your demos. Next you should sell digital videos for the full forms and applications. It is free money. I myself started getting into the beautiful flowery movements of eagle claw and would like to understand more about the applications of those flowery movements. I realize you do zoom classes. But, after 3 years of over zooming. I am zoomed out as I image others are. I like the old school of just buying a digital download. I realize you do have one form for sale. But people like options and more people will purchase when you have like 10-15 forms for sale. Lastly, you charge too little for your download videos you have now. Hope that helps.

A style that uses the stick very well, and is an efficient martial art is Kali/Arnis/Escrima, kung fu is not a martial art of real efficiency. Can I give an example where kung fu is efficient?
@sixharmoniesunited
@sixharmoniesunited 2 жыл бұрын
hey Carlos, thanks for the comment. Thats a common opinion of kung fu and it is an understandable conclusion to come to when you can watch time and time again 'kung fu masters' getting beat up by even low and intermediate level MMA fighters online. For better or for worse many kung fu schools emphasize forms above or without application for a variety of reasons with the end result damaging the reputation of kung fu systems in general. That said forms have their place to teach flow and the small sections in forms can be taken out and drilled for application with a partner just like escrima etc. Thanks for your comment🙏
