I think most people want to help the homeless, or those down on their luck.. However, there are absolutely those who have setup shelters as a business, and as cheaply operated as possible, and don't live up to their promises nor contracts. A city / county literally can close down businesses which do not comply or live up to the standards where they are located... As for the Griz... Unwatchable and unprofessional editing. Captioning can be unobtrusive and still effective for anyone who needs it. They apparently know how to put the captions at the bottom of the video as evidenced by the one with Taylor Inman, the reporter reading the news. I am glad Taylor's face wasn't overwritten by the captioning. If viewers won't watch the videos due to the captioning, then their sponsor Loren's Auto Repair is not getting their moneys worth.

I was at the park on June 28, 2017, with the intent of driving east on the Going to the Sun Road and the entire road was closed due to snow removal activity still in progress. So, this year is not that unusual for snowfall at elevation in the park.

Hmmmm... I think I like this... even though the melody is a little repetitious. Currently in 2024, we have the US Forest Service trying to approve pretty vast swathes of public land for forest clearcuts and the roads it takes to make that happen. Most of these attempts are in violation of the law and our state Constitution. To prevent these underhanded actions, environmental groups have to constantly sue them for violating the laws in place to protect those forests and the animals, birds, reptiles, etc. that live there. Then there's Holland Lake Lodge, sitting on public land that's leased to the owner, and how they tried to do an end run around the full process of getting a change in the usage of the land... a change that involved the construction of a lot more buildings some of which were sited very close to the edge of Holland Lake. Currently they have a problem with the sewage treatment plan for those few structures currently in place. You don't want untreated sewage getting into Holland Lake by any means, so that part needs fixin'. In this case, they tried to get this expansion action through without any Public Comment. When that was discovered, they received A LOT of it in very short order. The other 'use' of Public Lands that should concern us deals with "Grazing Rights" by the livestock industry. One of the things the Forest Service sometimes allows is a 'scraping' of the proposed or existing area to be grazed where they use large chains stretched between two bulldozers or large implements and they literally scrape all the vegetation that isn't grass off of the landscape. This is done without regard for the game birds especially that call that vegetation 'home'. You don't get Sage Grouse when you don't have the sagebrush anymore. So Mr. Quist is correct when he admonishes us to take good care of our Public Lands. They are still a piece, for the most part, of Montana the way she was before the whites got here and started monetizing her for their own gain. "Conservation"... good word.
