This breakdown is great. I recently started to implement storytelling and stumbling on your video early on has enabled me to approach it from a much different angle and avoid picking up bad habits. To quote Robert Greene: "The world belongs to people who learn the most skills and combine them in creative ways." I believe that's exactly what you've done here. Well done!

I needed to hear this. Just starting with storybrand and I could see myself falling into the ease of the formula without this at the top of my mind. In the past I’ve had to remind myself, “The plan is my servant, not my master.” This was a great reminder for me and will undoubtedly help me be more successful. Thank you! You have a new subscriber. 🤜🏻🤛🏻

You had me until you started speaking about the client letting their family down. That’s a yuck sales tactic. I understand the bigger pic of that but no way would that make me buy.

Thanks, Angelyn. Great perspective. Of course, it’s all about how you articulate the conversation. As an example, if someone is a smoking cessation specialist and they have a clear, proven path for helping someone become a nonsmoker, it’s the smoking cessation specialist’s responsibility to empathetically, not in a shaming way, articulate that the person who chooses not to become a nonsmoker is harming themselves and robbing their family of many years of good memories with them in the future. Not being compassionately honest in that context would be a grave disservice.

Perfect example why ppl need to have a good relationship with Jesus.. we do not know when he is going to take us and then we all face judgment. Just being a "Good Person" isnt enough.. Follow Christ he loves all of us!

Dude... Was this 2018?? Not too far from Leadville?? If so, a buddy and i spotted this very plane when we were ATV riding in mid July... We walked up to it and everything. The tracks from a truck were fresh near it and so was the "block off" tape around it... Didnt know anyone died until we looked up recent airplane crashes when we got back to town and had Internet service...

That's weird! How did he see what was left of the pilot if you had been by there and a truck and block off tape! I doubt that a body would have been left in a plane. You're story doesn't add up to his.

It was on July 13, 2018 on Mosquito Pass. We reported it to the Leadville County Sheriff’s Office. They recovered the body and also grabbed pieces of the wreckage for the FAA investigation.

If you want to read a great book written 30+ years earlier than the StoryBrand that follows the same plot then please read "The Goal" by Eliyahu Goldratt (actually he only paid for the book that promoted his Theory of Constraints). By the way, the guide's name in The Goal was Jonah.

Hey, you know what, Donald Miller does say you don’t have to start with one and continue to two and so on, in your messaging. The point is to fill up the seven buckets and pull from them. You mentioned talking about relating as a guide, who was once the character, but that is part of the StoryBrand framework - the guide has two segments, empathy and authority. The empathy messaging is that.

Hi Jon, would you please kindly site the specific source of the "82% of coaching businesses fail in the first 2 years" statistic from the ICF? I'm a member and have searched their site and read the full 2020 global report but struggle to find it.
@keynotecontent

Great question. The 2016 and 2018 global reports provide good context for that statistic. The 2020 report doesn’t speak to that success/failure rate like the two previous reports do.

This is one of the best videos I've watched about messaging 💯 Jon, if I'm helping business owners with w-2 employees get up to $26,000 per w-2 employee from the government, I shouldn't use that amount in my message? I should use a message on the outcome instead? or both? And how do I know what a business owner want or pain when there's so many of them in so many niches like restaurants, non profits, construction companies, hvac companies, country clubs, car dealerships, engineering firms etc?
@keynotecontent
@keynotecontent 8 ай бұрын
Thank you! I recommend using specific numbers if they’re tied to your offer. Also, inching down to focus on specific types of business owners will strengthen your messaging. Would you like to talk more?

I came across your channel and I'm addicted. I'm skipping and watching your videos. Your word play is off the charts and I'm taking notes. I'm trying to create a VSL. My audience covers many audiences - many business owners with w-2 employees. Do I need to address a problem when giving out government money? If so, how do I address the problem if the offer is giving money to those who qualify? Is there a way to the overcome objection for people who fear about uploading documents?
@keynotecontent
@keynotecontent 8 ай бұрын
Thanks! That’s great to hear. For putting together a VSL, I make it a point to call out a specific problem for a specific audience within the first six seconds. I wouldn’t focus on uploading documents in your VSL, but I would focus on what they’re facing if they don’t get the answers they need. “Would you rather keep lighting $26,000 on fire every year OR would you rather reclaim that amount in a matter of minutes?”
@jarailrakestraw6304
@jarailrakestraw6304 8 ай бұрын
@@keynotecontent Thanks for your response. What do you mean by not focusing on uploading documents in the VSL? I don't want the viewer of the VSL to upload documents during the VSL. I'm giving the prospect the process of the application in the VSL so they can know what to expect if they apply. They will get a phone call before having to upload docs. I was assuming the prospect would have trust issues on uploading docs since I'm considering cold email for traffic. I was asking if there was a way to overcome the prospects lack of trust uploading docs in the future? I hope I explained it better.
