Wow . To think this is 2005. I can feel the raw power here. Sheer organic musicianship. Way ahead of their time. I’m starting to realize how many bands ripped off the OG ASD.

This is beautiful. I mean I love the first album but holy shit this is phenomenal. I always find the bands original vision better than the labels version.

First of all, I agree. Second, you'd be surprised how little of intervention there was on Jordan's writing and recording process. It sounds like, as a teenager, the rest of the band already had the studio instrumental recorded and they basically let Jordan go crazy with his different vocal takes that wound up making the cut in the layers. His performance on the album was a test of his abilities. They already had almost all the melodies down in practice, and they already practiced gang shouts and backup vocals like a pro. So Jordan already had an idea going in on exactly how he wanted it to sound and that's completely unheard of with a lot of bands now. It's kind of freakish how professional this band always was in their presentation, even with their demos. The way they write instrumentals; the band name; their image; Jordan's work ethic in a booth and writing lyrics in a notebook; how well the band plays live almost every time without fail; etc. And they were *teenagers* ??? Edit: how can teenagers write this kind of music seamlessly? And they were a bit ahead of their time. And you know from hearing Jordan how much of the band was a solid vision. They wanted to make Soul Caliber and Final Fantasy AMV type music. What a specific aesthetic to hone in on before it was a thing

the only video of jordan sounding good live..shouldve played this at his funeral. throat infections were not the reason he usually sounded like shit and quit the band. Every problem he ever had up until the day he died evolved around one thing: drugs

Jordan and my son, Jerry, had been in Random Intelligence together during high school. After Jerry's senior year, they formed another band called Ann Arbor,. I think some members from a Lodi band called Farkus merged with Ann Arbor to start a new group.. Jerry is the one who came up with the new band name, "A Skylit Drive". A Skylit Drive performed many shows while working out their original material. As an interested parent, I video-recorded most of those shows. I'll upload those shows when I have a chance to do some video transfers. Jerry left "A Skylit Drive" and was replaced by Cory. Sometime after Cory's arrival, the band made a music video and released an EP.
