we just lay them unwashed in wire racks and store in our garage all winter long--they last until spring or we eat them all first!

That’s definitely one way. I found, here in our climate, they didn’t do very well using that method last year. I think these will do much better for us. At least I hope. 🙏🏽

Since she’s allowing us to get in there to clean and to change feed and water, she will likely be with them a few weeks. The problem with allowing them with mom for longer periods is that they get harder to handle as they mature bc they don’t see us as caregiver as much.
