Just wondering witch one is stronger and more durable Square or Hex crab traps? And can you build Wire catfish traps ? I'm from South carolina and was wanting to drive down there and buy a few traps..... Thanks

Hi there , the square mesh traps are more durable, we have built cat fish traps in the past they are about 4’ with two chambers to go through. Give us a call 352-685-2595 and we can discuss what you need and make sure we have everything in stock or make it. Thank you

How long do you recomend the length of rope to be?
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures 2 ай бұрын
Hi there , it really depends on where you are crabbing and if you have rising tides etc. typically where we are located around the St. John’s River here we do about 15’ the key is to use sink rope so that if your rope is longer it will sink and the extra will not float .

do you still need a zinc when you use the coated wire?
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures 5 ай бұрын
Hi there it depends on where you’re crabbing. Traps tend to last longer with zinc but vinyl coated traps do last longer in general so you don’t really need the zinc but if your crabbing a lot the zinc will help the trap last longer

How much rope do you use?
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures 6 ай бұрын
Hello, length of the rope depends on location and depth. We typically do 15-20’ we are here on the St. John’s River it is not very deep at all, however if go in certain areas it can get deeper so basically we do a little more length and can make adjustments depending on location. Also the rope sinks so if it’s a little to long it’s not going to be a problem. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

How come those square mesh traps don’t catch blues for me just stones? Does anybody else have this problem?
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures
@3KingsCrabbyAdventures 6 ай бұрын
Hi there , I have not herd any issues with square mesh traps not catching . We sell 50/50 square mesh and hex mesh. If they are the half traps with out the baffle they will not catch blue crabs as well as they tend to get back out as to where the stone crabs don’t . But if it’s a full size trap it should be catching blue crabs .

It always amazes me the differences of what works for crab (and other fisheries) in the Atlantic verses the pacific….. Even after changing hole sizes, etc. I’d still have to put a 25 pound weight in the bottom of that thing or it would be miles away from where I dropped it just 24 hours later. Many Pacific pot makers build the frame out of rebar for a reason, and sometimes that’s not enough (such as areas in the inside passage with deep trenches and strong currents)…. Cool video, interesting design elements.

Hello we are not currently pre cutting and shipping materials however we have been considering doing something like that in the near future.
