You're correct. Due to the original audio track from 1982 being lost, the show had to be redubbed into Japanese from the French version when it was released on DVD in Japan (hence, no live-action mini-documentaries on the DVD, as those were cut in the French dub).

@@たまよ県 NHKが本放送当時のマスターテープを消去してしまったのでキャストをほぼ一新して再録音した さらに本編後のドクトル順平のなるほど百科などはマスターが現存しないのでカットされている

the international soundtrack has a score very fantastic and very very impressive. well written, with choirs, moments of bravery unforgettable to many as "Farewell My Father" who do you think guts and can make you cry when he saw the scene. Instead Japanese music was composed by a person who stayed in the 70s. While numbers of composers such as Haneda, would have done more work today and certainly still could listen to his work without problem, which is not the case at all those Tayo no ko Esteban Japanese version. I speak knowingly as I have the 33rpm albums.

I wonder how it would sound like if someone made a version with the Japanese voice tracks and the French music (which was, by the way, written by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy, two guys that worked with DIC for many years).

It's not possible... The international version has been cut with many scenes to up or cut.
