New to GBL, just started using this team a few days ago after I found a good IV Swampert. Found this video, and it is quite validating to see my team used to success in higher ranks than me. I've gotta work on some gameplay before I get there, but at least I know it isn't my team holding me back.

@@Synk1590 i think they took some getting used to, but they aren’t SO bad. I always like more custimization options as a player so once some of the bugs were ironed out I think they were ultimately a good thing but could have been WAY better

Do you need counter for poli or can I use a different move?

You kinda need counter for the ability to counter down swampert, quagsire, etc. Some people have tried running mud shot, which changes Poliwrath from a more “fast move damage” oriented pokemon to a more “charge move damage” oriented pokemon since it charges faster but does less damage. At that point there are other pokemon like quagsire that would fill this sort of role better, so I’d certainly recommend Counter. TLDR: Counter is definitely better but some people have found success with mud shot if really you don’t want to spend the elite TM.

I also had a bad matchup with my gligar today into a mandibuzz but due to my good iv gligar I ate one dark pulse, sniffed the bait of aerial ace and was able to double shield after that ( Mandi also double shield ) and was able to reach one last aerial ace to finish of the mandi

Gligar can do some amazing things, it’s probably my pick for the single best pokemon in GBL (namely the shadow version of course)

What is considered high elo? is 2100 like gold?

It changes throughout the season. Everyone starts off pretty low, even the best players in the world only start at like 2300-2400 then climb up. So early in the season, 2300 would be high elo but as the season approaches its end, high elo would be over 3000 with top players being upwards of 3500. @@bryant7509 I’d be a little bit worried about Lanturn because you have both Feraligatr and Skarmory. One way to try and cover for this is to lead Stunfisk (maybe with mud shot over thundershock fast move), use feraligatr as your safe swap (run Crunch on feraligatr so you can still hit lanturn pretty hard), and then try to sweep with Skarmory. This way, feraligatr baits out the lanturn, hits it hard with crunch, stunfisk can help deal with it, then skarmory has a lanturn free sweep! Skarmory is super good if shields are down since brave bird is a CRAZY strong move, so play toward that win condition for some skarmory sweeps!

Here I am, years and MANY season in, and it seems i'm actually getting WORSE at GBL. A couple of years ago I'd end a season around 2000, maxing around 2150 before getting smacked down. The last several seasons I'm LUCKY to his 2k and finish somewhere around 1900. I don't know if the meta is just changed too much, if I'm too reliant on old models, if it's just attrition as players fall away from GBL and only the better ones are really left, or what. But it's annoying as hell. Watching people like you, who just grab random shit and do well with it is both inspiring and ANNOYING as fuck. :)

@@ronrogers7743 i think a lot of GBL is just memorizing move counts and fast move timing. The move counts change as the meta and season updates change which can make it really annoying for older players who took the time to learn a bunch of now outdated information.
