I love how Maria’s first thought was, “I don’t want to be disruptive to their families.” She’s thinking of others first, what a lovely, well adjusted, beautiful person!

My grandpa's brother went missing in France during WWII. Apparently my great grandmother said the remains that were found and sent home were not him, even though according to the military, they had recorded his body as found and returned. I wonder if someday his (actual?) remains will be found and identified.

Yes little pitchers do have big ears! I overheard a story about a significant shipwreck that killed my gr-grands. The baby washed ashore. My big ears figured out the baby was like Moses. It wasn’t until a storm uncovered the shipwreck and the papers were recounting the story that it really occurred to me what actually happened. My grandmother who was six at the time had been kicked off the ship due to her bad behavior. The rest of her life she was blamed for the deaths of her parents because she had “caused the delay” that kept the ship from coming back safety. She chose to be positive and was greatly loved by her progeny.

Hi Crista, I attended your webinar yesterday and wanted to let you know I completed one of your “homework” assignments, the one where we needed to find missing information on a person. I checked one of my great grandmother’s profiles and discovered she did not have a 1910 U.S. Census entry. Using the procedures you taught us today I did a search and found the information I was looking for. However, her surname was misspelled by one letter and that’s why the 1910 census data was not previously on her profile, much like the example you showed us in the webinar. Thanks! I wasn’t sure where on You Tube to post my comment but tried to find a fairly recent Ancestry YT video, like this one.

Random question: Why do I keep hearing geneALogy as in ALabama instead of genealogy as in congeal?
@megb9700Ай бұрын
I think it’s a dialect. It’s ok, we can still understand what he’s saying.
@SamStone19647 күн бұрын
The rest of the world pronounces it as it is spelt - geneALogy. I don't know why some Americans randomly change the A into an O and pronounce it geneOLogy.

Wow! Martha's story was awesome. Not sure how you didn't cry through all of it. Certainly makes you appreciate what our ancestors lived through. Made me wish even more for a written account of my Annie that died four years after the war and all she must have lived through. Great episode. Really powerful.
