Love the new HUD. Trooper I *don't* mind that much compared to Old Lane. Koppeberg is a toughie, especially after you have done Kwaremont twice! along with the others before it, but it doesn't match Old Lane. The Kemmleberg from the South West passed the monument is nasty
@bukowskijr53642 ай бұрын
Trooper lane is most definitely NOT the toughest climb in the UK. You need to head to Tal Y Bont in north wales, the Lake District or Bamford, Derbyshire before you can qualify that statement. Bamford Clough has an average gradient of 22% for 500m.

Ha yeh misspoke, I meant “toughest [cobbled] climb in the UK”

Its not the gradient, it's the cobbles and the state of the cobbles. They're like the cobbles in Arenburg and in a similar state.

Yes it is Brutal, one of our Airedale members, Luke, a cat 2 who you passed at the 5.20min mark, was taken out later, 3 broken ribs, 2 fractured vertebrae, a smashed up shoulder and more and 12 days in hospital, should not have to be like that. Some reckless riding by some.

Hey man, I rarely comment on vids, but I’ve only recently come across your channel. I’ve been wanting to do Crit Racing for years but I’ve never had the self confidence to just get out there and do it - A combination of being embarrassed that I’ll just bob around at the back within 5 minutes and just finding the idea of actual racing pretty intimidating. I’ve watched a load of your vids over the past couple of weeks and honestly they’ve just given me that little push I needed to finally go and do it. I’m still nervous about the prospect but your vids have been a real motivation to start racing. Thanks for videos and keep it up!

Love this! I’m not going to lie Crit racing is hard. The old adage of “you get faster, but it doesn’t get any easier” certainly applies. But I’d say just jump in a see if it is for you. I’d also find a group of people faster than you to train with, it certainly helped me joining a club like Alba Rosa that had training group/race team set up. I learnt a lot from them and got dropped a lot, but always came back stronger and more determined. Let me know how it goes!

This brings me a lot of hope. I fractured my pelvis in three places four days ago in a bike crash. I've made a lot of improvements over the last few days, but I'm feeling myself sinking into bits of depression knowing that I can't so much as take the dog out without it being an exhausting and painful event. Even if I don't have as quick of a recovery as you, I have a followup with an ortho doctor in about two weeks and I'm hoping for some good news about when I can get back on the bike. Cheers my friend, hope you've recovered and are doing well.
@gettingcritfit4 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear. Over a year on and I’m more than fully recovered. I was actually quite lucky and was able to get back racing a few months after the crash. One thing that I would recommend is finding an S&C coach or Physio to help build strength around the area.

If your chain is Slipping / Jumping Get Some BananaWax Drag & Friction Reduction Professional Racing ChainWax For your Chain. If your using clincher tyres, Try buying WCS Ritchey Race Comp Slick Tyres 25c better then any pirelli or Conti tyre.

Possibly the best video of the event I have seen. For clarity, it's entirely in Galloway, goes nowhere near Ayrshire. Your 50 percent pictures is well over the top, but there were a lot. Cramp got the better of a lot of us, so well done avoiding that issue.

I know that Sean's greatest desire - for a Tour de France win - eluded him in the end. But if you look at the number of wins he had during his professional career - 193 - he is one of the GREATEST ever to grace the sport. I could list them here, but it would take me all day to write it down!!! Absolute LEGEND, and a great inspiration for me to get involved in cycling many moons ago. Total respect for the man.

Did you feel anything in the legs from our ride the day before. Seen as it was punchier than expected?
@gettingcritfit7 ай бұрын
I think the ride the day before helped more than it hindered. I also did everything I could to recover as much as possible in the 24hours between (eating, drinking, resting etc) As you can see from the race footage, I was missing that ‘snap’ and ability to do repeated punchy efforts, but I think that is more to do with the training I have been doing. Definitely felt more like a diesel than previously. But only just finished Base training, so to be expected.
