I am also using phone. Use bigger or longer chopper skin for it to work, it will take you long but I'm sure it will work.

The reason it is more difficult now than in the past is because of an update that changed the allowed distance of the chopper from the entrance.

I suggest u keep your loot until u can craft beanie, thick jacket, denim jeans, and work boots. if it's close to break then u can craft it to reinforced jacket, etc..
