Excellent video. Where can I find a template like the one you used in the video?
@tjsworshipluthier5 ай бұрын
I make my own templates by importing a guitar picture into my CAD program, scaling it to size and then tracing the shape. Any Lazer cutting shop can cut the shape out for you from 3mm Perspex.

Nice man. I'm building bouzoukis in jbay. Must come visit sometime if u keen. Love to see you have a emco star planer. I'm struggling to use my thicknesses part of the machine. Planes very thin planks but won't allow 40mm planks through. Ant ideas?
@trevorstroud99006 ай бұрын
Nice to hear from you. I’d love to connect sometime and see your instruments. The Emco Star can be tricky and I use mainly the planer and band saw after getting a wider thickesser. The thicknesser can be difficult to adjust and the feed is not very strong. I’ve put a piece of MDF on the surface to try and reduce friction when the wood goes through. Also check your feed roller belt drive as they sometimes come off or the belt breaks! Blunt blades also make life difficult 😊

Some nasty tear out going on.
@tjsworshipluthier7 ай бұрын
Hey Jordan. I was using an 6mm upcut tool in this video which does leave the top edge of the wood a bit rough but didn't have any tearout issues fortunately.
@JordanWatson-bz4fb7 ай бұрын
That's good, its hard to see clearly on a phone screen. What kind of bridge setup are you planning?
@tjsworshipluthier6 ай бұрын
This cut was to create a recess to insert a piece of wood to cover the holes from the string-through setup it had originally. I installed a tune o Matic bridge and tailpiece.

Great start now, add one narrow bearing roller in middle so you can tilt for curve couges and have bearing that quickly adds to side as most chisels need to be 90 degrees square

OK, nice guitar....but you waited til the finish was on to drill a giant hole for the jack?? and you used a spade bit?? and you installed the widest jack possible??? You literally scared the shit out of me. Dude... they have guitar jacks that only require a 1/2 inch hole and no plate.
@tjsworshipluthier2 жыл бұрын
I did leave it a bit late to drill that hole but I’ve learned my lesson on subsequent builds! Check out my latest videos on the Dove guitar!
@timhallas42752 жыл бұрын
@@tjsworshipluthier Spade bits are not good for drilling expensive things. They often tear out massive chunks of wood around the perimeter. Use forstner bits for large holes.

This is one of the most beautiful guitars of the entire competition, in my opinion. Have you looked at Moseby Tremolos? I wouldn’t have any idea how if there’s a price difference where you’re located or not, but it might be an option. I have a $20 eBay knock off, but I don’t know if I would put it on a guitar as pretty as yours.

I hope you're proud of yourself. It's beautiful. Very elegant design choices. Would love to hear how it sounds with the tone rolled off a little playing some bebop lines. I only found out about the GGBO recently. I would have voted for this one. How many votes did you get?
@tjsworshipluthier3 жыл бұрын
Voting is open until 5 July so there’s still time! Thanks for the support! Unfortunately I can’t help with any bebop lines my electric guitar skills are a bit limited.
