@@keithm1138 That’s good! I love seeing these things out in the wild, I just hate when they get on the road. I try my best to save them if it’s possible for me to safely do so.
@keithm1138Күн бұрын
@@itsRobertsJourney I just don't like watching people try and get them across the street in some of these videos. Basically, they're kind of pushing them in the butt across the street. Frequently that just causes the turtle to back around and face you. Then you've got those people who try to pick it up from the sides of the shell and frequently get bit because they most certainly can bite you at that distance. Some grab the turtle around the rear of the shell and then the turtle, if it's got good Claws can flail you pretty good. What I do is a little bit more complicated than some. I will grasp the turtle by the tail (not to lift,but to stabilize. I then slide my hand and part of my arm if it's a big turtle obviously, under the plastron. If it's a big turtle I'll actually kind of put my arm in the position of a fulcrum against my chest and I'm able to lift some surprisingly big turtles that way and I just move them across the street to where they're headed. I find frequently lifting them in this method they actually calm down a surprising amount and I'm not the only one who noticed this there's been a few other videos where people have noticed this is well to the turtle seems to calm down somewhat.
@itsRobertsJourney23 сағат бұрын
@@keithm1138 that’s interesting, I’m afraid to try and get close to any turtle besides the common box turtles, so if I ever find myself in a situation where I need to move one I’m going to try your method out.

ALWAYS put them on the side of the road that they are walking towards. If you ignore this part, they may just walk back into the road because they are crossing for a reason to begin with. Be safe if you choose to touch it, many turtles have a powerful bite and have sharp claws!
