@chineduanthony9909 15 күн бұрын
@myusuff1 whose incompetent and failures? I ain't even based in Nigeria. My answers are based on the reason of insecurity in Nigeria that makes investment not attractive. Open your eyes and open your head too. Your reasoning and understanding is very low. Whose duties and responsibilities is it to produce security in a country? Isn't it the government? Why are companies leaving in droves to other countries their investments are secured? An economy can never thrive with no security. Open your eyes and be exposed to how things are done properly. Travel and see and don't be naive and ignorant in your reasonings and statements.

@chineduanthony9909 15 күн бұрын
@alexbanj7a7bc if stating the obvious bores you to death, I am sorry for you guys been defensive of the very obvious. Main reason our country is at its present level. You can't solve a problem without identifying and solving it from the root. There is no short cut to it. Insecurity is at its time high. That is the main reason food is so expensive in the market because of extreme shortages. See stampede happening left and right because of hunger and extreme poverty. You guys must be part of the ass lickers of the present government and don't seem to care. Like I said I am not affected but wish to invest and play my part in providing food. With this insecurity, I rather observe and wait till things get better. Many alike are also doing same. Nigeria would be great again if there is a revolution to take back our country, get the right leaders and politices enacted for social benefits rather than selfish goals.

Thank you, Oredola, for your thoughtful comment regarding the remark at 13:15 of the video. 🙏 Let me assure you, the statement was not intended to be derogatory. Instead, it aimed to highlight a mindset I’ve encountered among some Nigerians who blame their challenges entirely on the country, using it as an excuse to avoid seeking solutions or growth. The pause after the statement was deliberate-I wanted to challenge that limiting belief and encourage reflection. As you rightly noted, if Nigeria is truly so poor, why would I, as a foreigner, choose to live and work here? The truth is, Nigeria is a land of abundant opportunities. While no country is without its challenges, success is achievable here with hard work, the right mindset, and continuous learning. I’ve lived happily in this great country for over 13 years. I’m married to a beautiful Nigerian woman and have two amazing children. Nigeria has brought me joy and fulfillment, and I wouldn’t make such a statement to undermine the potential of this wonderful nation. Thank you for sharing your perspective-it’s always great to engage in meaningful dialogue. I hope this clears things up, and I appreciate your understanding!

The most reliable research team found in Nigeria or any part of Africa are those experts from China. The experts are all experienced academic. These Chinese farming ecperts, they not only gave you/share their knowlege, they actually stay with the farmers, each morning they were seen working hand on side by side with the farmers. At certain hour, they will give lecture and after that they will be back to field work. On top of that the Chinese government will finamce the whole project... and the Chinese government do it for free with uncondtional terms. With such team work in no time those African farmers standard has been rsise to a higher level. God bless

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s undeniable that collaboration with experienced teams, such as the Chinese experts you’ve mentioned, can significantly uplift farming practices and standards. Their hands-on approach, coupled with consistent knowledge-sharing and fieldwork, is indeed commendable. That said, it’s also essential to recognize the remarkable progress and expertise being developed within Africa itself. African farmers and aquaculture experts are continually advancing, leveraging local knowledge and adapting global practices to suit their unique contexts. Partnerships, whether local or international, work best when there is mutual respect and a shared goal of sustainable growth. Thank you again for your comment, and let’s continue to celebrate and promote collaboration in agriculture and aquaculture across all borders!

While I’m not entirely sure of the intent behind your comment, I’d like to provide some clarity. If you’ve explored the catfish farming space, you’ll notice that most of the content and knowledge shared comes from black professionals and passionate Nigerian farmers who have played a significant role in growing this industry. That said, the focus shouldn’t be on the skin color of the individual sharing knowledge but rather on the value and relevance of their message. Before settling in Nigeria, I worked closely with my late friend and business partner, Ade Alakija, at Durante Fish Industries. Together, we were pioneers in African aquaculture, laying the foundation for what has helped Nigeria become one of the largest catfish farming nations in the world today. To learn more about this work and legacy, you can explore the following links: Pioneers of African Aquaculture - Ade Alakija - thefishsite.com/articles/pioneers-of-african-aquaculture-ade-alakija African Catfish (Clarias Gariepinus) - aqua-spark.nl/blogs/african-catfish-clarias-gariepinus/ For context, I hold a Master’s degree in Fish Farming and Water Purification from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and have been actively involved in aquaculture since 1984. Over the years, I’ve faced numerous challenges, made mistakes, and gained valuable insights. My goal is to share these lessons to help others succeed and avoid the pitfalls I encountered, regardless of background or nationality. Ultimately, what matters is not who shares the knowledge, but how beneficial and impactful it is. Thank you again for your comment, and I welcome you to learn more about my work through the links above. Let’s continue to grow this industry together!

Thank you for your comment! The focus here isn’t about who has the answers but about sharing knowledge that works. Many solutions to challenges in aquaculture and other fields come from a mix of local expertise and global experience. What matters most is the value and effectiveness of the insights shared, not the color of the person sharing them. Ultimately, collaboration and learning from diverse perspectives help us all grow stronger together. I appreciate your thoughts and encourage us to focus on the knowledge that drives progress. Dark brown eggs are always the best for breeding African Catfish. Mostly these are a result of the genes of the catfish, the maturity of the eggs and the diet. With the genes you want fish with potential for dark pigmentation, you always keep these females. With egg maturity as eggs mature they accumulate yoke and and pigment which darkens their appearance (this process is called vitellogenesis). Temperature will also play a part in this process. Below 22C egg development compromised. And then with diet you want to feed diet high in carotenoids, essential fatty acids and vitamins. Thats why the green water with algae (which is high in carotenoids and vitamins) gives good eggs. So it goes to show that if you have broodstock that naturally has the dark pigmentation then feed them a feed with that diet and mature them well enough you avoid results of bad broodstock. Try a feed or formulate one to include spirulina, Shrimp (in Uganda we use kiwuka), broiler offals, and duckweed.

Thanks for the video. I have an Earth Pond and i want to raise Tilapia. My Earth Pond is 20 x 15 square meters. So i want to raise 3000 Tilapia fosh. I want to stock 10 fish per square meters. Do i need to change the water, if yes how often should i change the water?
@WillyFleuren
@WillyFleuren Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching the video and for your great question! 🙏 It’s always wonderful to see such enthusiasm for fish farming, especially when it comes to raising Tilapia. Let’s dive into this! Given your earthen pond's size-20 x 15 square meters-you’re working with a surface area of 300 square meters. While your plan to stock 10 fish per square meter (a total of 3,000 fish) may seem feasible on paper, it’s unlikely to work effectively without proper aeration. Here’s why: Tilapia thrive in well-oxygenated water. Unlike catfish, they are more sensitive to low oxygen levels, which can quickly occur in ponds with high stocking densities. Without an aerator to increase the oxygen levels, the fish may face stress, poor growth, or even mortality. Water Change Requirements: If you do decide to stock Tilapia at a lower density (a safer range would be 3-5 fish per square meter for your pond size), you may not need frequent water changes as long as you have good water inflow and outflow systems. However, for higher stocking densities, especially in the absence of aeration, water changes will be necessary to maintain quality. As a general guide: For moderately stocked ponds, a partial water change every 1-2 weeks could suffice. For heavily stocked ponds, you’ll need more frequent water changes (e.g., every 3-5 days), particularly during hotter months when oxygen levels naturally decrease. My Recommendation: To successfully raise 3,000 Tilapia in your pond, you would need to install an aerator to improve oxygenation and potentially set up a flow-through system to maintain water quality. Otherwise, it’s best to reduce your stocking density to align with the natural capacity of your pond. Thank you again for your question! I hope this helps, and feel free to reach out with more inquiries. Best of luck with your Tilapia farming journey!
