I’m now learning French and, there is no passion for it in me. Of ALL the things I have done, the 15.000 hours I’ve spent with AI, reading, listening, learning Spanish...I have zero desire to do so in French. I've dreamed of learning Spanish. I've gone to Spain twice. I’ve decided to live there! My heart and soul are on fire. I even watch porn in Spanish of Spain!! But French, I simply "have to do it" in order to have the skill IF my social security doesn’t continue to provide above my investments. The difference is to the point where, IF I had a student in Spanish who feels about Spanish the way I feel about French, I would kindly dismiss them. They’re wasting their time and mine. It would take 25 years for them to learn! Whereas I became very fluent in Spanish in about two years, I’ll NEVER be fluent in French. Why? PASSION!! THAT is what students need more than anything else or, try some other language! If you don’t FEEL it, you can't realize it. Pronunciation is Passion! You have to really give a damn in order to SOUND Spanish, sound French, whichever. It’s NOT talent. It’s Passion!! Brotherhood, not offense, if you love French. I understand.

I created a symbol system for all Spanish tenses which avoids using the names. It works surprisingly well! Take a look at this "symbol" //// Now, tell me which past tense it is. What about this one? · ǀ The first is the imperfect. The second is the preterit. How about this one? · ǀǀ This one is "had". See, the symbols explain the tense perfectly. The truth is, it doesn´t matter what symbol you create, just so that you don´t name it! Without meaning to, or not, when academics created the stupid, irrelevant, long names to "standardize" things, they destroyed the hope of fluency in the process. A simple dot is the present · the three subjunctives are K· and K˂ and Kh for que esté, que estuivera, que hubiera estado. For all 14 major tenses, you can create a list, in the order you prefer and then, use it as a practice template every day with any verb.

why are names not just as good as symbols?
@edwardburroughs1489
@edwardburroughs1489 5 күн бұрын
@@RyeCA Because they are inherently misleading unless you know the meaning of their Latin roots (which I discovered via chatGPT, of course). For instance 'imperfect' basically means 'unfinished' but the use of 'perfect' in that sense has been almost lost in English.

I think you probably missed the point. This is just a test. It is not a lesson with explanations. To find out about each subject, we have hundreds of videos that explain in depth. How did you do in the test. Remember, it was C1 to C2. This is the highest level and so is very challenging.

I guess I kind of used a similar system, although in some cases I just learnt words as separate things to learn. "Dormirse" = "fall asleep" and "dormir" = "to sleep". I just learnt them through experience. With respect to what you called "datives of interest" I always just translated that as "on me". "The computer crashed on me", "don't fall asleep on me", "don't die on me" or something that sounds like corny dialogue from a bad melodramatic Hollywood film. Maybe this is more of an American usage but from films and TV is seems kind of natural enough and anyway Spanish is kind of a more melodramatic language IMO anyway. And so I just treated it as part of the typical sentence when you have three parts. It's basically the same thing as far as I can tell.
