This song encapsulates the current ferars, all very real fears, of the best among us.

Who stole the soul And who stole the heart And who took the spark from inside of me Why can't I breathe And I'm afraid they won't stop Till all the poets have failed Till all the good men are jailed for nothing at all Let them take the fall And they'll bring devastation And call it diplomacy But an occupation won't bring a nation peace And I'm so ashamed And these things beyond value That we cherish so dear I won't let them go No, I won't let them go And who stole the soul And who stole the heart And I got back the spark from inside of me And I can finally breathe Hear the shuffle of my dancing feet

To some it may be depressing but whats funny is to me it's not. Whether it be English or Spanish people always ask why do I listen to depressing music lol. It's everything, the voice, the lyrics, the slow rhythm, the guitar, but most of all the emotion. It speaks to the spirit and takes you to another place. It's pure, natural , raw talent. The soul knows when it is right, and this right here is right.

this man is a gift to society - I don't see it as "too dark" - everyone needs a song or two to hear when they are down - for me, I USE this kind of song to get my "sad" out... either/or, I am SO grateful for this man, he is a talented musician that speaks to my soul....thank you for sharing!

People had a very different view of life and death back in the day too, so it feels like he represent day to day life (and death) then in a realistic way. My uncle took over our family farm in '69 and my grand grandparents tombstone was used as a weight on the tractor then. haha. I find it interesting that we've evolved into death freaks.

To I, music true art creating something beautiful from our souls thru the use of our bodies, be it voicing an opinion thru words or constructing a shelter from a discarded pile of wood scraps, the overwhelming joy from within arising connecting with another body/soul simply by doing what we enjoy with our thoughts out thru the movments of our bodies, is such a beutifullfeeling. I thank the sun everyday for giving me the inclination from day one of my life, to pick up a hammer and be a constructive human. To anybody who doubt's there artistic capabilities, practice practice practice and never place that voice within aside. Keep in mind I struggle to, writing is a way for me to remember t I have found and connected with carpentry on an almost savantlevel, have been strumming guitar off and on for ten years, I still have yet to practice. Peace have no fears

God I love music. To think I started out listening to pop music as a little kid, my tastes got a little more rocky, from rock I progressed on to other things, got into The White Stripes and then Jack White as a solo artist. His Pandora station brought me to this. So many songs I would never have listened to flat out a few years ago or given a chance. There are so many different genres out there each one having good music all it takes to enjoy them is the ability to change your perspective, to have an open mind. Blues is definitely one of my favorites now though.

Sete DiSangue I agree with you, had the same thing, but with different bands. I know what you mean! And please ignore trolls like Max Cady. This guy is just obsessed with knobs. I know these are all old comments, but, like you, I grow with the music I listen to, so I just recently discovered William Elliot Whitmore and I'm glad I did. Listen to your heart and ignore people like Max! All the best to you Sete!

Thank you so much for leaving your comment!!! I was lucky enough to see him & my daughter went also. She wasn't familiar with his music & was blown away. Later, she said "Mom, he seems like a really, really nice guy." I had the exact same impression. It is so good to hear from someone who actually knows him. Wish more people would become familiar with his INCREDIBLE music! Thanks for adding your comment. My best to you, Moppet
