About monoethnicity. You mentioned history, so indeed, Poland's monoethnicity is a result of its history. Poland was never a colonizer; we were not like the Anglo-Saxons who traded slaves and transported people from Africa to America or Europe, or like France who colonized half of Africa etc. Furthermore, after WWII, when Stalin changed the borders of Europe to create Soviet satellite states or Soviet republics, he made sure that they were ethnically homogeneous. That is why, for example, there is practically no German minority in Poland, and Poles from Belarus or Ukraine were resettled to today's Poland. Moreover, our culture's long struggle for independence made us less interested in multiculturalism and we do not necessarily see it as something inherently valuable. Furthermore, as Poles, we do not have a colonial or racist history, so there is nothing to apologize for and we do not feel the need to integrate or blend in with communities with a different historical background. So your observation is spot on, but as I mentioned, it has historical roots. Some people think that multiculturalism is beneficial, but... you only have to look at the Balkans to see the potential problems, or consider the current conflicts between Israel and Palestine. So for now, the mono-ethnic model seems to work well in Poland.

@robercikgb.6745 Yes I absolutely agree and I think because Poland still be in it majority a homogeneous country that makes Poland to keep its traditions, and still be an authentic country, I hope that never change because that makes Poland very special !

Hello Anuliet !! Sorry if I didn't spell your name correctly. My name is Bogdan, and I also live in Canada like you. I accidentally discovered your channel/vlog and you already have another subscriber and loyal viewer. I know you are going to visit my home country Poland. If so, I wish you a pleasant stay, and maybe you will be able to see what was built after the fall of the "wall" that divided Poland and other countries of the "eastern bloc" from the western countries. These countries included Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and the former Yugoslavia which was not covered by the USSR regime after the end of World War II. All the countries mentioned except Yugoslavia were occupied by Russia and Stalin. If you want to know more, give me some contact. I will also send you another opinion to read. Greetings from Mississauga Bogdan.

Yes, Poles are the largest group awarded the "Righteous Among the Nations" medal for saving Jews. And in the name of money and politics, we were called anti-Semites. And it's done by people who didn't want to help "their own people". Research the history of the Ulma family.

2.55 The difference between us and the West is that we accept immigrants, but those who are valuable to society and contribute something. We have the Tatar minority for centuries. Their ancestors shed blood in defense of Poland, we have the Asian minority, especially the Vietnamese, they are very hard-working and mostly problem-free people, we also have people from the Middle East, who mostly run businesses related to restaurants. I agree, of course, that we need to be vigilant and maintain a balance, but with the constantly developing economy and the lack of workers, there is no other way than to sensibly accept labor immigrants. 5.16 What did you expect in the most visited by foreign tourists city in Poland? 5.58 Poland became homogenous only after World War II as a result of the Germans murdering Polish Jews and the Soviet Union deporting other minorities such as the Lemkos. The iron curtain that the Soviets imposed on us and the lack of travel opportunities also contributed to this. 10.05 🤬😤🤬 13.30 This is one of the things I will never understand about Poland and I hate it with all my heart.

The Baltic Sea is warmest in August and coldest in February. In August, the water by the coast is up to 21 degrees Celsius, and in February, if the sea does not freeze, from 0 to 2 degrees Celsius. In May and October, the sea has a temperature of about 8 degrees. The Baltic Sea is not a typical sea. It has low salinity by the Polish coast, about 7 per mille, compared to 35 per mille of the average ocean salinity and about 37, for example in Cancun and Acapulco. There are many layers of water in the Baltic Sea with different salinities and temperatures. It can therefore happen, for example, in August, that due to the action of the wind, water with a temperature of 2 degrees and a salinity of e.g. 2 per mille will reach the surface, or, for example, in February, as a result of a storm inflow from the North Sea, water with a temperature of 10 degrees and a salinity of e.g. 12 per mille will appear by the Polish coast. To sum up: in July and August in most resorts the water temperature is above 15 degrees, usually between 17 and 19, which allows bathing especially at an air temperature of 25 degrees and above.

To understand Poland's war history, I suggest you first watch the video Wojtek, the bear who went to war: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaK3enR7rMuYnpI 3:20 Anders' Army leaves the Soviet Union. Thousands of civilians leave for Iran with the army. Civilians, prisoners of Soviet gulags, Polish refugees are transported to various parts of the world. To India, to New Zealand, to several African countries and (you probably won't believe this) to Mexico. In Mexico, in Santa Rosa in the years 1943-1947 there was a camp of Polish refugees. Watch the video: Polish Refugee Revisits Catholic Shelter He Called Home as a Child: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haiao2eAiMmenpY If you are interested in this topic, you can watch a film about a Polish girl who wanted to find the grave of her grandfather in Mexico, who was a refugee in Santa Rosa. The word combination Śmigus-Dyngus is so ancient that it is currently incomprehensible, like a children's rhyme, Śmigus means fast. It is the name of Easter Monday - a youth custom with water, derived from the spring joke of hitting with a young branch, picking up girls at the river or maybe baptizing ?

No one in Poland assumes that tourists should speak Polish! But there are many translators, immigrants and hobbyists who speak English naturally.Every city in Poland has an old central district, also small towns, which we love. Warsaw is extraordinary because we rebuilt everything brick by brick, also monuments and tenement houses destroyed by the Germans to the ground, they were to liquidate this city. But compared to Mexico City, Warsaw is small....

If you are in Warsaw, you should see the Warsaw Rising Museum and POLIN the Museum of Polish Jews. In addition, I recommend seeing the Kopernik Science Museum and/or the Museum of Communism. Of course, seeing the old town in Warsaw and walking along the Royal Road, and strolling through the largest park in Warsaw, Łazienki Królewskie, is a must. Warsaw was 85% destroyed by the Germans during the 2WW and after the Warsaw Uprising. Then came the hard times of occupation by the Russians and communism. Warsaw is a city that is still rebuilding and has a very mixed architecture. Warsaw Poland Travel Guide: 14 BEST Things to Do in Warsaw kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoLMi4GsbK2Cq6s

Personally, I like Warsaw a lot-the 'glass center' is beautiful in my opinion, for example the Plac Europejski area. But that's exactly because here it's the opposite of what you said-all the cities here are several hundreds years old. We have old architecture in pretty much every little town. I'm from Kraków, which is very historic, and while there are skyscrapers and modern buildings too, they usually form a separate part of the city, because the center is already densely built with old architecture. So it's just that-what you are used to and what you find interesting because it's something different. As for Warsaw, many people actually don't like it too much because it's a bit like a 'patchwork'- since it was destroyed, there are different patches that were rebuilt at different times: some old buildings that survived the war, the reconstructed old town, some lackluster communist buildings, and now some very modern districts. It isn't very consistent, but I think it's part of its charm-it reflects the history of this city and how much it has survived.

Polish language is really hard to learn so we wouldnt blame anyone for not learning it, but we really appreciate if you learn few words or sentences 😊
You don't "perceive Poland as Central Europe" because the image of Europe has been shaped by communism. So people today associate Eastern Europe almost entirely with the former Eastern Bloc. Theoretically, there wouldn't be anything wrong with this if it weren't for the various stereotypes-of Eastern Europe being portrayed as gray, backward, undemocratic, etc.-which are often completely inaccurate. The Iron Curtain fell over three decades ago, and most countries, that never wanted to be under Russian influence in the first place, have done everything they could to leave this part of history behind. Moreover, historically, it’s just not accurate for Poland. In the past, Europe was rather divided based on Latin influences or Orthodox influences, which shaped political and cultural settings. Poland used to be an empire that was always Latin, closely connected culturally and economically with countries like France, Italy, and Germany. Therefore, it feels quite strange to be lumped together with Russia and countries more similar to it, as historically we've always been in opposition. There’s probably no other country in Europe that fits the concept of "central" better than Poland-it’s a Slavic country, but also Latin and Western-oriented, despite having a history of being under Russian influence that still affects us today.

It even includes the President of Mexico, Juarez, and a Pole who became the most trusted person of the President, who rose to the rank of colonel and officer of the President for special tasks in Mexico. As for helping Jews, I'll explain it to you briefly. In the territories occupied by the GERMANS (I emphasize this because who knows who these mythical Nazis are, maybe aliens? For Poles, Nazi = German is the same thing, but not for the rest of the world, so I prefer to emphasize it) helping Jews was punishable. But in every country except Poland, the penalty for helping Jews was a fine. ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY in Poland, the penalty for helping Jews (and I'm not talking about hiding them, it was enough to give them a slice of bread) was death, but not of that specific person, but of the entire family or deportation to a death camp for the entire family. The most famous example of German brutality in Poland is the murder of the Ulma family, who were hiding their Jewish neighbors. The entire family, i.e. the parents and their seven children, were shot for this. (Here is a link to their Wikipedia page, where it is well described: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulma_family). After the war, the Yad Vashem Institute was established, which deals with Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Since its establishment, it has awarded the Righteous Among the Nations distinction to non-Jews who saved Jews during WWII. Currently, according to Wikipedia, the most of these distinctions as of August 10, 2023 were awarded to Poles - 7,232. (Here is the link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Righteous_Among_the_Nations).
