Hopeless that's why When i was 4 dad shot himself (shotgun, to the heart ) when i was 13 my next older brother shot himself ( rifle, twice to the heart) a few week after i turned 30, my second oldest brother stuck a .38 special behind his right ear and destroyed himself. By age 6 i started taking extreme risks hoping to die "by accident" & prayed daily to die immediately upon receiving my first communion. It didn't work. By the time we reach the point of murdering ourselves the great majority that complete the mission have LOST ALL HOPE. Eventually we come to the point of knowing that we are lying to ourselves every time we tell ourselves: "hang in there, keep praying and try a little harder and things will eventually get better". I believe if i do it i will spend eternity in hell. Fear of hell is a grest deterrent. I do believe in GOD and that Jesus really paid our sin debt in full. So, i keep on reaching for the hem of HIS robe. That is the only hope i have. I am an old man now. Many my age are in their boxes or urns & they wanted to live. I have no answers.

You can say it the brain is identical to any other organ and its nature is simply too complicated to understand with the current technology, but how could this faith you have in that the brain is simply a incomprehensible machine who's secrets we'll unlock any day now be be any different from a theist saying the world is how it is for the actions of an incomprehensible god who will reveal all at some point.

What a useless presentation .. all this BS with statistics .. we need to examine the root causes. I see a lot of people talking about depression.. they were not born depressed.. society and childhoods created this.. so why the hell not talk about this. But not all suicides are due to depression ... I was nearly successful suiciding 25 years ago. By any measure I have a life many are envious about yet there has never been a time when I was glad I did not die. I know where this comes from but this clown presenter does not have a clue. I get many articles published in a news paper in SE Asia. Not under my own name. I did one on suicide. I get extremely positive feedback and am asked for more. I just finished one on communication. Part of the problem of why mental health is the mess it is, is to do with the thick clowns such as the presenter of this video .. what a load of useless comments. Not the slightest effort to address the underlying issues..

I've been thinking about this whole investment think. Somehow, I think the equations are wrong, Here's what I think. You have 1$. You go and buy bread. 1$ = 1 bread. You have 1$. You go and invest. After a day, if everything goes really well, you get 2 $. But 1$ != 2$. So, during that time, something happened to the dollar. What exactly happened? Well, the value of the stocks fluctuated. Because of the fluctuation, the stocks you invested in gained more value. So, the value of the $ you invested represents a function that describes the fluctuation. But since it represents something different than the $ you used to buy bread, it's not correct to use the same sign. You can't use the same notation for something that represents a fluctuation and also something that represent value at a given moment. So, in order for this to make sense, you need to consider that the $ you use to invest is actually d$/dt. A derivative. In the same way acceleration is the derivative of speed.
