Hmmm. I'm not sure this is really for people getting started. The tutorials are full of jargonized terms and its not clear to me how they relate to files, folders , machines or scripts. There are Collections which might be the same as Endpoints but maybe not. Who knows, but the getting started tutorial is not going to tell you what these things are. Stuff can be sent from one thing to another, Yeah, I could have guessed that bit as that is what Globus is meant to do. I need to learn the new jargon and I was hoping the "getting started" areas would fill me in. I would also be very nervous about creating a collection/endpoint or whatever you want to call it, that by default, exposes the home directory. Seems like one wrong click during the learning process and and the world gets complete access to my home directory on my personal machine. Sorry, but I was disappointed by the getting started tutorial. I also looked at the Introduction to Globus for Users video and the sound repeatedly kept dropping out, to the point where it was too frustrating to continue.

thanks for the helpful tutorial. without knowing before, I have mistakenly set for high assurance but my institution doesn't support that. I am not able to receive any data therefore. I am also not able to change that setting, even after going back and forth for several process of uninstalling and reinstalling. Please advise! Thank You!

Hi, I am trying to install and configure a Globus server and DTN following your instructions. you mentioned the command are in the documentation. Where can I find that documentation? The one I pulled from the Globus site does not contain any command information that I saw you run. When I run the second command I get an error msg "Bash: dpkg: command not found"
