I just found your channel because you helped out Ozark Overland Adventures with the belt. It is always good to help out anyone on the side of the road even if it means going out of your way to do it. I have a cheaper way to air down and it seems about as fast as yours but I am only running 33's. So if it takes a little longer, like you said it is not a race. We are out to have fun. However, you mentioned airing up with the same set up. When I have a little more time I will see if you have a video of that. My airing up is a lot slower. One tire at a time. But again, it is not a race. I subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your content.

So I replaced it because it was leaking all my water and very little oil now that I replaced it I can’t keep the oil in it as soon as I turn on the vehicle all the oil leaks out I followed the torque specifications I mean sure and went in there I am wondering if it’s a defective part I thought the aluminum one could you help me out with some suggestions?
@richierich1169 Жыл бұрын
So this is so crazy to me. I look for an oil cooling replacement video just as a refresh from the first time I had to do this about 6 months ago. First, mine is also black sheep.. lol looks very much like that one. Almost identical metal tubular fenders. Mine just have slots cut out on top. The first time I changed out the oil cooler was an exact story. Not sure where you boys are from. I’m here in the Carolina’s. Took my freshly bought sheep to a place called uwharrie. Had my stepson with me. He was a Jeep owner long before I bought this one. Looked like it’s never seen mud. That is until I took her to uwharrie. Spend the day on the trails and having a great time. On the way out, omg, the mud hole has a name. I have since forgotten it because the damn thing almost destroyed my Jeep. I was never gonna take it in mud. But I was coaxed into it. I’m not gonna lie, it was fun. But never again! I bought a pressure washer. High pressure washer..I washed it i can’t remember how many times. I laid under the jeep and pressure washed it. I’m still finding mud. NEVER AGAIN! I would say about a month later i had to change out the oil cooler as it started leaking oil. My mistake was trying to go cheap. NEVER AGAIN! I bought a black plastic one. Cost me about 75 bucks. Had to buy the gaskets separate. My first time ever changing out something of this magnitude. Found one really great video where it wasn’t a time lapse. He went slow and showed everything. The kind of bolts what to take off, what I didn’t have to take off, what I could just move to the side. However, no matter where I looked I couldn’t find the torque specs of any of the bolts. So my stupid self thought, ok just tighten em. So I borrowed a Milwaukee battery operated 3/8 ratchet and let er rip. Boy did it. Stripped 2 of the oil cooler bolts. I’ve never been so upset at myself in my life. But there are once in a lifetime lucky moments for me. I took the bolt to Lowe’s and found bolts identical to the originals but just a hair bigger in diameter. When I installed the bolts, I used a manual vintage torque wrench and prayed as I waited to hear the click. When it clicked I almost shed tears. Same thing with the second bolt. Another mistake I made was not putting any thread lock on the bolts. I’m sure you can guess what happened about 4 to 6 months later being on 37’s and knobby tires. I’m guessing the vibration loosened those bolts. Or stripped them back out again. I just assumed it was a big plastic pos oil cooler. So I too bought an all aluminum oil cooler. Even the cap is aluminum. I wasn’t taking any chances. I haven’t put it in yet because I have had a back injury that has prevented me from doing so. Rods and screws in my spine and now SI joint. But I am tired of seeing my baby just sitting there going to waste. I bought this cooler about 6 months ago. Yes, I’m sitting here with it in my lap. Lol I have got everything ready to get to work on it tomorrow. Going to say a huge prayer that the two bolts I stripped out the first time isn’t the issue. But if it is, I’ve come up with a hack to fix it. Hopefully there won’t be any issue and my back will let me get through it. Great video! Love the Jeep! Great job!

Thanks Brother!! Sorry bout your oil cooler misfortune. So far so good on my replacement. We are in Northwest Arkansas.

Question - how does driving through a hole and not around it affect the Oil Cooler? The reason I ask is I did the same thing in beach dunes but I thought maybe I over tightened the filter cap bc I did an oil change recently.

AWESOME ATTITUDE!
@BlackSheepOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
This attitude on display in this video was brought to you by an anal orifice that had shamed me for running Rough Country suspension. Of course he didn’t have to purchase his suspension, it was donated to him through sponsorship. My goal, as a fellow Jeeper/Wheeler is to encourage only, regardless of the level of equipment or experience you have.
@dalekarraker6851 Жыл бұрын
I love your vids. I like your honesty about not needing to buy the most expensive gear, etc. There's definitely a snob factor out there if your gear isn't a certain brand or certain size or a certain amount of this or that. That's all fine but I got into the overlanding hobby because of the independence it offers. Not all of us can afford to put a $20K suspension underneath or a $40K engine under the hood. I've been wheeling since long before it was "a thing" and the best rigs have always been the ones that people figured out for themselves, and built for themselves - on a budget. PS, please post what the list of materials was for your air-down kit. I'm going to build ome just like it!!
@BlackSheepOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah, in this video I had very recently been shamed for running Rough Country suspension. The guy knows who he is, and I decided to make a video or two talking to folks on how we can all wheel on a low budget and get equal outcomes as those guys with big sponsorships and such. I don’t think the folks who would shame others should be a part of the wheelin’ community. Or, they should at least keep quiet or just simply encourage others. Just my thoughts…
