Surely the energy content will decrease when hydrogen is mixed with natural gas as hydrogen is 6 times less dense at the same pressure & temperature and will act as a dilutant. No mention either of the nitrous oxide - which is a more potent greenhouse gas than CO2 - given off when burning hydrogen alone but increases sharply when other gases are burnt with it as here...

I don't get it. I would understand the idea if you produced the hydrogen by electrolysis, using renewable energy. But how is this decarbonisation when you produce the hydrogen by reforming methane (the same natural gas you would otherwise burn at the end customer), producing the same CO2?

The carbon capture. They will capture the co2 and store it. Easier to do at the plant than from everyone's cooker and boiler. Just have to see if the storage works. Think they plan on using depleted gas fields in the north sea.

Carbon (CO2) Capture will be integrated to the system, i.e. H2 production from Natural Gas. CO2 will not enter atmosphere. Captured CO2 can be used for Enhanced Oil Recovery or can be stored permanently in geological formations: Saline aquifers, depleted Oil & Gas wells and concrete aggregation.
