I had this put on me by three female nurses they had to pin me down because it freaked me out and started balling my eyes out.. it's very comfortable but also scary at first because you can't really move your body just your arms. They had a camera in my room and the ladies watching me would talk to me through that and watch me constantly like i would ever be able to get out of bed.. and the camera was on 24/7. They put a catheter on me and when i would be sleeping they changed it and put the sleeping bag back on me with new catheter they had me on some heavy medicine because i didn't wake up when they changed the catheter.
@Camerateambe9 ай бұрын
The alternative is to tie hands and feet to the bed. Then there is no freedom of movement anymore whatsoever.

Yeah. I actually wish they had this during my episode last year. I had my first drink in a few years and I got very sick. I drank less than a half pint and my enzymes went through the roof and I guess that caused me to have delusions and hallucinations. I dont remember much but I was seeing demonic nutcrackers and goblins whenever I closed my eyes and was convinced that I actually had bugs crawling over me. Additionally all woodgrain had spiders crawling on it. I was freaking out for about 4 days I was restrained with ankle straps and they put a torso harness on me once I could be trusted enough to have my arms free and not yank out my IV and catheter. That was the most terrible 4 days of my life, the next 6 weeks I spent in that hospital was no picnic either. Like a really bad acid trip. I have 18 months sober and have been told that one more drink could literally kill me

I now work at a salvation army owned residential substance abuse treatment in Clinton township Michigan as a support specialist(basically a glorified butler 😆). While we ourselves do not have any means to restrain or seclude anyone(nor are we allowed to) plenty of people do come in from the local hospital with ligature marks from struggling against restraints. Quite frankly this system looks more appropriate for elderly dementia patients as I do not see how this would be effective against a fully able bodied and violently resisting patient. I do recognize your harness and cuff system though. I believe that it was the one used on me last year. Through the panic and fury I do remember taking a mental note that of all the different mechanical restraints that have been used on me, those were by far the least uncomfortable. For all my struggling the bruising on my ankles and wrists was very mild. Good work. Though I hope that your restraints were the last ones I will ever have had to be in

What do they use this for?
@Camerateambe9 ай бұрын
Sometimes people are confused or disoriented. Normally if they have to restraint them to the bed, they literally cuff hands and feet to the bed. With this sleeping bag, the patient still has some freedom while he/she's restraint to the bed. So it's a more friendly alternative to restraint confused people to a bed.

It can be used in hospitals and elderly homes. It is not intended to be on the market for every one. Some patients are too confused and should be restrained. We find this solution better than strapping them to a bed with belts.

Why? You should see why it is used. This is not for normal patients, but for people who are restraint to their bed (psychiatric patients, confused people who are a hazard for themselves...). So you prefer that they are tied to the bed like they do right now then?

If people are really confused and it's for their own safety... It's better then really tie them down with straps to the bed.
@Camerateambe3 жыл бұрын
@@kaitlynwinslow3940 It's the same as people who can't get out of bed because of an injury. For instance: they could have a button to call a nurse to help them. Sometimes I think also dipers are used, but I'm a videomaker. Not an expert on the subject :-)

@@laurieberry4814 will need to use adult diaper. It doesn’t appear that you can easily change their diaper without unlocking the whole thing, so carer might be less inclined to do so, as a result patient could ends up being forced to sleep in soiled diaper for extended period of time
