Gear is so important. Not saying you should make it your brand... but it impresses the hell out of people having lots of equipment and instruments. Just mentioning "tape machine" has gotten me clients.
@carlbahnerАй бұрын
Totally depends on your ideal clients - for tracking engineers it's definitely way more of a tangible concern than for mixers, for example. And it depends on the style/genre for sure. So if it's something that aligns with what your clients are ACTUALLY looking for and care about, then hell yeah show off the tape machine!

I'm currently struggling with deciding if I should record and produce my own band (need better gear $$$) or work with someone local (limited market and $$$). These tips are very helpful to keep in mind. Thanks.

You can always do some parts yourself and some parts with an outside engineer/producer - just depends on your goals, your skills, and your budget. But if you DO hire anyone, make sure they actually give a sh*t about your vision and goals, not just saying yes to everything you say in order to make a paycheck!

I guess in the future music producers and engineers will be hiring marketing managers and content creators, because I don’t know how you can find a time to make videos and write posts for various platforms and still be able to provide high level services without burning out.

Yep, we can go the entrepreneurial route and outsource. Or we do it ourselves as freelancers. Absolutley, it's hard. But we can always make time; we just gotta be creative with how we use our time. Luckily, we're creatives, so.... : )

Hey Carl, I’m a filmmaker and this video was so, so helpful, and more than that it opened my mind to what is possible! Mind blown dude. One thing I’d love to see you elaborate on more in a next episode perhaps, how can we apply the great copy you’re creating here? It seems a little too lengthy for a website or an Insta bio, I could be totally wrong, I’d just love to see some examples of where you’d recommend creators could use some of the brand story they are creating. Such a great video, happy the algorithm worked today!

Well I can confidently say that I don't have a plan for this year and I am shooting from the hip. I know this is NOT the right way to do things and this video is motivating me to put pen to paper on what I want to accomplish. Thanks for the awesome work as always, Carl! Hope you and the fam are well :)
