Honestly credit to the actors involved!! If I saw this on television and didn’t see the disclaimer I would’ve thought this was actually happening

If they were that close to the blast zone that camera would have been immediately fried due to the EMP and gotten little to no footage. Also they said the blast yield would be the equivalent to the Hiroshima bomb but it actually would be two kilotons more than the bomb dropped on Nagasaki, that being 23kt

I truly adore the Alien film. The first one looks so authentic. It feels like you are trapped inside a documentary. I spent the last 10 years working in offshore oil rigs and production platforms as a paramedic. The industrial look and feel, the chatter between crew members, so matter of fact. I put Alien on at bedtime and drift off to sleep at the slow intro and ethereal musical score. I live in Thailand and as I drift off there is sometimes a Thai lady laying next to me playing on her phone, not really paying attention to the 75 inch flat screen... Until the chest burster scene... LOL!!!

I remember watching this on tv either when I was still in high school or during my first year of college in 1983. This entire program looks entirely real.

I watched this on UK TV in 1987, at about 1am during a huge storm. I knew it was a film but not what would happen in it. A well made and sobering piece of television.

The NEST team would certainly send the boat out to the middle of the ocean as they began disarming to reduce risk to the city. A glaring weak spot in an otherwise very compelling story.

I’m FROM Charleston and was 12 years old at the time this aired. I had no idea this was just a movie, so I was genuinely terrified when the thing starts out with “reporter in Charleston…” I’m pretty sure my family gave me a Valium to calm the hell down, because I would not calm down.

Oh my here is the hunk *Michael Madsen **59:00* in one of his earliest roles hahahh so adorable. And also, *Lane Smith* who would later star in "Lois & Clark" as Perry White. Great surprises. I really didn't expect to see any familiar faces on this. Thank you so much for uploading it!

I just heard an interview with director Ed Zwick in which he said he had a conversation with Orson Welles about the War of the Worlds radio broadcast of 1938. This anecdote was very brief, but I was impressed that Zwick, as a very young director, wanted to know what, if any, regrets Welles had about scaring so many people. (Though I've read previously that at least one suicide was linked to Welles' broadcast, that may have since been discounted.)

I find it interesting to see the reporters being emotional about this situation, I couldn't help but compare it to the 2001 episode, and I don't recall them being so touched. I know it's a different situation but the actors look way more real than the real broadcasts. Very nice movie, thanks for sharing.

Fishing rod better than code or something other than a fishing rod. But then again what are the benefits do you have in places of power unless you don't have a fishing rod where you're at and you can get one flown there by the RAF on priority

I was 11 years old when this aired. My mom called me into the living room about half way through the program and tells me, "Cal you've got to watch the news with me, something terrible is happening." I don't recall now just how far through the show we got before full panic attack and crying set in at which my mom tells me that she fooled me and that it was just a tv show, not real. Ooooh man, I was so stinking mad at her. Of course, she apologized as she recognized that her joke was not as funny as she had thought it would be. And if you're curious, my mom has always been and still is my best friend.
