I lived in Pago Pago as a child in the 70's and there were hardly any modern buildings, this is unrecognizable! I was sad that they didnt show any of the fab views like of Rainmaker the spetacular mountain or cute Flower Pot island but now they have McDonalds-damn you McD! McDonalds is the mew Missionaries ruining cultuures evefywere.

I mean...what? They don't have any beautiful, white sand beaches and crystal clear water like other islands? I didn't see anything remotely enticing enough to want to even pay a visit here.

Teach Her2Fish hi I'm from Michigan. I've been around the Bahamas and Hawaii, and this year I finally made it to American Samoa. American Samoa is by far the most beautiful. There are breathtaking beaches and pristine coral reefs. The sincerity of the people and the authenticity of the culture will blow your mind. Stay at Sadie's by the Sea, eat at Sadie Thompson Inn, shop with the locals at fagatoga market, and experience the absolute best tropical vacation this world has to offer

God Bless our American Samoa brothers and sisters. As a Californian, I educate my children that our brothers/sisters also live in the South Pacific (as well as across the nation). They study your culture and know how to find American Samoa on the map. One day, I will visit American Samoa and pay respect to the land and culture. May you prosper across all America.

TheNunn10 Then we could also hope that all aboriginal Australians unite and take back their country......from a Yank. American Samoans are our brothers/sisters. They have their own culture, serve sincerely in the US military and prosper across the USA, the most powerful nation on God's earth. We will respect your unity provided you respect ours. American Samoans are brethren. Peace.

Twizteddaddy, assuming you're from AS, do you know how the island gets its electricity? I'm assuming it's from diesel-powered power plants & generators? If you get around to reading this, I'd appreciate a reply. Thanks, from Boston.

I miss Samoa!! I used to work on the boats at Starkist, did most of the diving for the canneries and the police station... installed the Utulei pipeline and the Cannery pipeline, extended the land behind the market in Fagatogo and installed the latest power line to Aunu'u.. Would love to bring my wife to see the way "we" live at home!!! maybe let her get bit by some mosquitoes too!! Alofa atu!!
