Apart from this, all them are gorgeous and somehow, missed ones as well.

We had this same color 1973 Caprice brand new but the sedan version. My dad loved it. He didn't want the 4 door hardtop version, had to be the 4 door sedan. It was such a nice car. I still remember the new car smell for that one. My dad always said he wanted to be buried in that car - which of course he wasn't. It had such good Air Conditioning, cold. We lived in Texas, he bought it at Henna Chevrolet in Austin. Lots of good memories . . . I would love this car today that is for sure!

Absolutely beautiful! My 73 coupe was the dark forest green with black top and interior. I had the split bench seats also, a nice option. Yours is optioned better than mine was, you have electric windows and cruise. Mine had the rubber bumper strips though, but should have gotten the side strips like you did. Did your car come with dual exhaust or did you add that? I recognize the plugs in the exhaust manifolds! Removing that stupid air pump and plugging the manifold ports was one of the first things I did to the car when my parents gave it to me, disconnected the EGR as well. Did your air filter cover come with that 400 sticker, or did you add that. My air filter cover was plain black, no decal at all. I drove that car for about 250K miles, mostly troublefree, on the original engine and transmission. I would have kept driving it if it hadn't gotten so rusty. You have a beautiful time piece, please take special care of it for me, I am so envious! If I could have most any car in showroom condition, it would be my old 73 coupe...Perhaps with some money for fuel though!
@carscloseup28 күн бұрын
Thanks for your story! I will take good care of it, I guarantee! The car came with single exhaust and I did the dual set up. The sticker on the air filter is an add on by me. It came with the big bumper guards in the front, but I removed them, because I don’t like the look of it, makes the front looks “heavy”! These Chevrolet full sizes were some of the best cars overall; looks, handling, ample performance, very simpel technical and durable drive trains. I just❤’em.

@@carscloseup Same here buddy! The only issues I had with my 73 was the "constant velocity joints" in the driveshaft. They only lasted about 70K before they started whining. Tried rebuilt driveshafts but they were NG, had to replace with new. But looking back, I was a kid, and way too hard on the car. Original 400 and turbo 400 tranny all the way up to 250K miles, when the northeast rust killed it. I remember everything about that car and how to work on it. Wish I could have done a "frame off restoration on it", but it was too rusty in the end. Love the "400" sticker on your air filter cover, even though the poor 400 small black had been choked way down by that point.

@@carscloseup Well, like I said, I was a kid when I had mine, and was pretty darn rough on it... So, I'm sure the 400 developed plenty of power. I also had this Citroen. And I had to sell it because I couldn't repair the suspension. I just couldn't find any craftsmen who could help me. After repairing the steering rack, the suspension started to behave very stiffly, as if it were sporty, and the softness for which these cars are bought disappeared. Therefore, it is an extremely comfortable ship, but if you don't know someone who can repair it, you are taking a big risk. @@luporosso358 I know little to nothing about the gasoline engine in the Peugeot. On the other hand, all diesel engines are very reliable, note that the Peugeot and Citroen share the same engine. When it comes to the whole car, I would go for the Citroen C4. I have knowledge to both Audi and Renault and I would avoid those. Peugeot is more or less the same as Citroen, but in my experience slightly cheaper build and more prone to failure than the Citroen.

@@kennyprokop-j4e Apparently you know nothing about this car/model. This is in fact an all original car. Notice there were differences between US and European models. Notice I put “Super Beetle” in exclamation signs, due to the name was only used in the US as it was called “Big” in the European market, as I correctly has titled the video. This is an European model sold in Denmark and it’s for sure completely original. This was a special edition to the Scandinavian market, without headrest and other extras, but still with 1600 cc engine, to bring the price down, due to high taxation. Maybe you should tone down your accusations and do a proper research before accusing of fraud?? Because your car has air conditioning doesn’t make it more original ? My Beetle was bought from the first owner, who was 89 years old and was obviously not modified. Working with cars and particularly VW Type 1 since 1978, I know this was how they were delivered. Try Google and you’ll see that you’re so wrong.

Although its documentation is in Danish that's shown (2:58) says "The warranty begins on the day the car is delivered to the customer". It was delivered to the customer on July 22nd of 1974 that does not mean it's a 1974. A 1974 also should have had Self restoring energy absorbing bumpers, where as 1973 did not. Also the engine code says it was manufactured in August of 1973. My 74 Super Beetle also had matching fender beads that matched the body color, this one has been changed to black. So thinking this is really a 1973 Beetle not a 1974 and something is up with it.

@carscloseup6 ай бұрын
I’m not really satisfied with the car. I had a W212 before, much more refined car, that goes for engine, transmission and overall experience with the car. The W205 is made too cheap. Especially the transmission annoys me. Shift too early and sometimes too late. It’s hard to explain, but in the w212 you never noticed the transmission. That said the w205 is faster and the steering is a breeze. Would I recommend it? Not really, I would go for the E class instead, it’s just better build, more refined and…a class above! The service reset is possible in the car without any tester or computer. Just google service reset on a w205.
