A lot depends on just how broken the DCS replay system is. Therefore - I record the screen monitor from the game using Streamlabs OBS, then applying a lens correction (GoPro 9 Narrow) in Powerdirector to get rid of the telltale VR "rounded edges of nothing". I also render the video in a higher resolution, which means less compression artifacts on KZbin. Most of the time I also do my voice-over in Powerdirector, since the microphone on the VR headset is.... bad. :D Setup wise, it's a Oculus Rift, running on a 3060 Ti. Good enough for medium-high'ish details at a consistent FPS. Ideally, I'd record from a track playback, since that means higher quality (DCS records head movement in the trackfile). However, DCS tracks desync as soon as any kind of aerial combat is going on and are frankly unuseable at the moment (hence my lack of recent videos).

@@simtaylor61 Best of luck! One thing to remember is that the monitor (usually) runs on your right eye, so the point of view is slightly shifted as well. Let me know how you get on!

Cool. I use to fish in the smal lake (Guoledish, sami name of the lake) right behind the ground targets. This is on the swedish side. Just 1-2 km from Norway border.

I don’t play dcs (yet), but i love the kola map. I live close to Bodoe, and recognise all the moutains and lakes. I grew up here during the last decade of the cold war and NATO fighter jets was a daily experience. Low level F-4s, harries, f-16s, jaguars, tornados, f-5s, a-10s, etc. they was so low and close you could see the pilots head moving.

@@PrimetimeCasual my home willage lies in the «Y» shaped fjord just north east of bodoe. Right at the headland on the northside right before the main fjord splitts into a south and a north east arm.

@@PrimetimeCasual yes I like the F4. The area was one of the main areas for stopping the russian during cold war. the main road to the north goes thru this area. In that county thera are 19 tunnels and 3 bridges. the fighter jets simulated attack som these "bottle necks"

I have the feeling a lot of those small things were changed over the years, and most tutorials still miss them. I'm not *that* deep into the editor yet, but I'll try to make a few more tutorials on things I had to figure out on myself. :)

does it have to be such a far planet? what is the minimum gravity for a good speedbowling planet i dont want to have to travel so far

Absolutely not, that was just a special event during Distant Worlds 2. Any planet with more than ~1.5G will work, the sweet spot I found was 3 to 4G. If you want to try it out, I would recommend using 61 Virginis 2, Margulis Depot as practice ground. That was the (IMO iconic) location of SpeedBowl II.

nice i will have to look into that. Me and a buddy tried the one planet in the ross 33 system, brune something... it was around 3.3gs but we might not of flying correctly cause we couldn't get the ship to keep accelerating with driving assist off. Maybe the atmosphere was too small as well?@@PrimetimeCasual

Hard to say without seeing a video of the attempt. Common mistakes are either angle of attack or leaving the main (forward pushing) thrusters on. I don't think atmosphere has anything to do with it, but I haven't done any in depth testing in Odyssey.

@@dom-ct6ie MAIN throttle (pushing forward, the one you usually use to fly with) - OFF. VENTRAL thrusters (the ones pushing your ship UP, the one you use on take off) - ON. Like I said, this is probably the most common mistake, or possibly the thing I explained worst in the Speedbowl videos. 😉

Basically burned out from the hours I put into playing, filming and editing. Plus Odyssey performance meant that I couldn't record at all for months after launch. (still problematic now, but doable) I really, really want to do one last hurrah, I just can't find the energy for it.

Pretty much. I fed it with a few DCS channels that I like to watch, then asked it to create mission ideas, briefings, assign planes, what threats I could be facing, and let it generate an entire fictional conflict where these missions take place. I still had to do the actual work in the editor, but I was just "following instructions" at that point. :D

That's the north of the Syria map - I was starting from Wujah Al Hajar. The mountains are pretty much along the entire stretch of coast from there, heading southeast. If you want a longer runway, use Rayak and head northwest instead. ;)

@@howard494 Yeah, X4 has a problem that there's no way to "reset" the puzzles to the original state, you always need to reload an older save. I encountered the same thing later when breaking into the Torus Aeternal (definitely use lots of saves on that one!) Did you manage to get through eventually?

As usual, I didn't have the camera on my better runs, especially the second weekend with my dad. Next up will be a whole weekend of a simulated enduro race at Rabenberg - in the rain. Do you want to see more of my thought process when approaching / debriefing trails, or just keep it to the action?

Suelo tener muchas naves tipo S de comercio y minería, son buenas como escuela para entrenar pilotos y tripulación. Aunque pueden dejar de ser rentables cuando se intensifican los ataques de los Khak y piratas. Usualmente construllo pequeñas estaciones mineras, un modulo de almacenaje de minerales, un puerto, y algo para que tenga defensa; solo éso, configuro las naves S para qué corran a la estación si los atacan y de paso atraigan a los enemigos al fuego de la estación. Suelo spamear esas estaciones, 10-20 o más distribuidas de forma q se cubran entre si en una zona de extracción como un campo de mineral, las naves mineras M pueden usarse como mercantes para llevar el producto bruto a las fábricas, para mas protección una estación de defensa con patrullas. Para cuando necesitó Naves L o XL tengo muchos capitanes y pilotos bien calificados. Esta es la mejor manera hasta el momento que he encontrado de crear una "Escuela"... Muy útil porque los NPC con 4-5 estrellas son muy rentables y difíciles de conseguir.

También me gusta tener muchos barcos pequeños mejor que unos pocos grandes. Y entrenar a los propios pilotos. Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que jugué un juego "X", pero afortunadamente no ha cambiado mucho. Lo siento, mi español no es muy bueno (comencé a aprender el año pasado) y trabajo mucho con Google. ;) Puedo leer (gracias al latín), pero me faltan muchas palabras y gramática al escribir.

En X4 e intentado varias estrategias, y por el momento es la entrega que mas me gusta, aunque se siente la falta de algunos contenidos de X3. Y si, los Terran son buenos para aprender y sus sectores requieren colocar las estaciones con mas cuidado, Mercurio es el productor de energía, el cinturon de asteroides y ort es para la minería, jupiter o Saturno para los astillero y centros de distribución etc.

El nuevo dlc se ve divertido, la nueva economía de reciclaje parece prometedora, espero a ver como es aun no tengo el DLC. Capas empiezo una nueva partida y intento desarrollarme en Avarice, parece un sistema bien difícil. Me gustan los retos.

⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ DO NOT reset the quest if people tell you to this will hard lock the quest and if do it you and cannot reload a save you will not be able to unlock the full mech suit as you will not be able to obtain the crafting pieces again

Excellent advice, I didn't try that since the questchain isn't very long. But I suppose if you're out of resources, you might be tempted to do that at some point.

Yep the only way I was able to fix it was by glitching under the map. If you reset the quest it becomes impossible to complete
