Very nice! I like your mounting bracket. I've got parts of an old sliding aluminum frame door I will cut into that shape. A circular saw with a wood cutting blade will easily cut aluminum. I will use a jig saw with medium teeth for straight non rounded cuts. I assume that you cut the coax into an old multiple of the frequency of choice. Is this an odd multiple of wavelength for the entire section of coax, or just an odd multiple that is inserted into the element, or both? Thanks and 73.

@@W1RMD hi it's odd multiple of a quater wavelength with respect to the center frequency of the dipole antenna you're building taking into account the coax velocity factor. In this build it's for 146Mhz dipole the coax is 75ohm cut into 3/4 wavelength inserted into the 3/8 (10mm) aluminum tube.

@@EphraimGariguez Does it matter how far or how much of the coax is inserted into the dipole? Do you even need to insert it at all? My coax is 50 not 75 ohms. I have RG 174 which will fit inside my 1/4 inch copper coated steel brake line that I want to use. Thanks.

@W1RMD it should be 75 or 100ohm impedance coax, it should be inserted up to the other side of the folded dipole, the purpose of the coax is for impedance matching 3/4 wavelength * velocity factor. The function is similar to a parallel set of coax bringging down the impedance of a 75 /100 ohm coax to 50ohm ( impedance transformer) the aluminum tubing serves as one of the coax in parallel that is why you need to use 75 /100ohm impedance coax, not 50ohms.

Just wanted to mention that the COS signaling is a positive voltage, NOT negative. Notice that the meter probes are plugged in backwards on the meter, itself. So, no carrier (COS inactive) is 4.8V, when active (carrier present) is near 0V.
