Waste of scarce funds that should be better used to initiate EXPORT INDUSTRY that will generate FOREIGN EXCHANGE REVENUE for the state, and help create economic opportunities and sustainable employment. And alleviate extreme lack of employment and economic hardship which has resulted in crimes, insecurity and chaos. They have to spend to maintain the place, instead of developing and exporting resources that will keep people employed. Such projects are legitimate ways the ruling class ships money out of Nigeria. The Governor certainty got his share of the contract money.

Well, the NYSC has outlived it purpose. When the program was established in 1973, it was geared towards uniting the country after a brutal Civil War, by getting youths of different tribes, backgrounds and religions together. Those days are gone. You see, nowadays, the leaders that are supposed to promote the unity of the country are the ones that are destroying and destabilizing the country. Obasanjo started the destruction in 2003 after "winning" the Presidential election by rigging himself in (details withheld). Secondly, Buhari came up in 2015 and introduced more selfish approach to destroying the country. Nepotism, Tribal hatred in terms of singling out a certain tribe for hate. Appointments and Federal Infrastructural distributions were denied in certain areas because, he never liked them or they never voted for him. Now, the current "President" was SELECTED to run the affairs of the country on an Interim Basis until the outcome of the Presidential Elections Tribunal's findings. His appointments have been lobsided, and, as if that is not enough, he is bent on going against the tribes that he perceived either did not vote for him, or made him loose elections in his backyard, Lagos, by ordering for the destruction of their properties. That cannot happen in any country of the world. Citizens cannot be deprived of casting their votes or must be forced to vote for a particular candidate. Is that the Spirit with which the NYSC was Created? In the United States of America (USA), every State controls its own God given resources. Therefore, no State depends on the Federal Government for monthly allocation collection or employment. With that, States develop based on the resources and funds generated in their State, and not monthly allocation from the center. In a country when one-man is allowed to dictate what happens to over 210 million people or citizens, it becomes very dangerous that is why Nigeria is the way it is today. That method drags development backwards. This same man would favour certain people and disfavour his hated ones. In my own opinion, I suggest that the NYSC should be scrapped, or restructured so that graduand serve in their State of Origin. Far more NYSC members have died in the last five years than since the inception of the program in 1973 by chasing such a useless program. If a program that is supposed to promote unity since 1973 is getting worse daily, why do we keep it. As Nigeria is today, the Hausa man hates the Igbo man, the Yoruba man hates an Igbo man, the Igbo man hates the Hausa and Yoruba man, then what is the purpose of keeping the NYSC after 50 years when the country is worse in terms of unity than what it was 50 years ago. Everyone was happy that Buhari left after creating evil leadership in the country, and now Tinubu has followed that path of hate and disunity.
