Good thing that this documentary was uploaded as the Blu-ray version of the film only has a truncated 45-minute version of it, instead of the full 1 hour and 14-minute version here.

I can't imagine Wellington riding around the waterloo battlefield late in the evening surveying the carnage. I know he was taking it hard. He lost a lot of good officers and men Blucher "Marshall forward" as he was called, was feeling emotional as well as relieved that he and Wellington finally stopped Napoleon. Waterloo was the final curtain call. Both leaders congratulated each other at LA Bel Alliance Napoleon's headquarters and they had their meeting in French. Still, they were thinking of men under their command that sacrificed so much for final victory.

All the Allied countries thought Napoleon was no longer a threat once he was in exile on Elba. They were mistaken. After 10 months he returns to France with the whole French army backing hime up and all of France itself. So all his enemies in Viena put aside his differences and delared war on Napoleon not on France.

I am a big admirer of Napoleon. His knowledge of military tactics, and being the founder of the corps system, adopted by every country around the world, each consisting of its own infantry, artillery, calvary, supply, engineers, all the resources for each corps to operate separately and concentrate for battle. And Napoleon had some well trained soldiers in the French army and good and loyal officers. Marshall Ney, Grouchy, etc, Vive La 🇫🇷

По-моему это фильм Бондарчука, а не какого-то хитрожопого Семёна Льюиса. В описании нет упоминания о настоящем режиссере.

At 6 mins the acting is quite incredible. The intensity is so profound. What a performance throughout. They don’t make them quite like that anymore.

This movie is still awesome. I would love a modern version, but honestly Rod Steiger and Christopher Plummer will never be matched.

I am traumatized by Ridley Scott, twice. First by his film Alien. I had bad dreams for years after I first saw it as a five year old. It was really good! Then his latest film about Napoleon. Gave me bad dreams too, because it was so bad. Edit: Scot did make a good film about the Crusades though... I'll grant him that!

I like the fact that Blucher's role in the battle so Underlined. The general idea is that Wellington won the battle ma truly it was only thanks to the arrival of the prussians that Napoléon was finally beaten

I love this film, the attention to detail, accuracy and overall beauty and no cgi! Supposedly the premier was 4 hours long. I consider it a masterpiece. Far superior to Ridley Scott’s Napoleon. To do Napoleon justice he would have needed at least 2 series of ten 1 hour episodes. You’d need at least 3 episodes to do the Battle of Leipzig justice. I’d concentrate on Napoleon’s military endeavours and on his major battles like Marengo, Borodino and Austerlitz, whilst quickly skipping over his lesser battles. I suppose economic reality would prevent such a thing from being made. Pity.

sadly the commercial failure of this movie put to bed Stanley Kubrick's plans for a Napoleon biopic. we can only imagine what it would've been like

It wasn't popular in American because it didn't involve American forces or American history. Simple as that.

1:33:58 That little move on the fallen british guy is insanely accurate, as it was common for lancers to spike with their lances the wounded or dead in the ground to confirm their kill
Der Film zeigt deutlich die Schrecken des Krieges . Und für was , für wen? WOZU ?? Was müssen Menschen auf solch einem Schlachtfeld gelitten haben ? Sterben , Schmerzen , Angst. Nur weil einige Spinner früher wie heute keine Ruhe geben können , ständig Ärger anzetteln müssen
