Exped has a Universal Valve adapter which connects the Schnozzel Pumpbag to just about any stick-out-valve and flat valve of any mat brands. This adapter can be left on the mat stick-out-valve. See link here: www.exped.com/international/en/product-category/mats/universal-valve-adapter

How difficult would it be to get to the enchanted Valley in one day and back in a day?
@VeganPacker7 жыл бұрын
I found the trek to be deceptively more difficult than it looked on paper. The hike has constant ups and downs, giving an overall gain that is more than I expected. There were some people going in just one day for each way (13.5 miles for the one-way trip), but they were with very light packs and few supplies. I think that I was at about 28 pounds, due to it being four days (and I love to eat a lot of good food--which was one of the biggest shares of my weight), and I found that I was a lot more tired than I had been after doing steeper climbs.
@JayHill6157 жыл бұрын
13.5 is definitely a lot of miles unless going downhill or on very easy terrain. It also makes you rush and try to beat the sun down. Due to time constraints im going to try to get there in a day. I loved your video and hope you will continue to do these.

I got this on the stove now. Just curious, it seems like a lot of water, is there a reason it calls for so much?
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
I have noticed that it tends to make the final product more tender. I have cut down on the water to save time, and it is still pretty good, but you may find that the texture is not quite as good. Give it a try with a small batch, and see what you find.
@JaxxDrinkwater8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. It turned out delicious! I added a couple of extra things to it ...1Tbs hot sauce and a 1/4 cup of dried shallots. I will make it again . I don;t think this batch will make it to the dehydrator. YUM!
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
Also, reducing the water by too much won't allow the Braggs flavor to seep into the TVP, and it can come out kind of bland. It's a balancing act, so just keep adjusting until you find the least amount of water than you can add while not taking away from the flavor or texture. Good luck!
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
Glad that you are enjoying it. I have the problem of eating a lot of my batches before dehydrating, too! LOL

Thanks for such a patient video .... Thru hiking can be a very relaxing experience if you have the time to do it , not that this was a thru hike...i am speaking in generalities here. But most people think it has to be done in a hurry so as to get it done . I think the slower way is better .

Shot with a GoPro Hero 4. Small, lightweight, and easy to bring along. Fits right in my hip belt pocket. I bring one battery per day, and then one extra per trip. I also used a Joby GorillaPod tripod for the GoPro, so that I could set it up and do selfies. To that end, I also used the GoPro remote control unit. Thanks for watching!

Considering the high fat content of the coconut cream, how long does this keep? I've been told that fat will go rancid when dehydrated and stored for long periods of time.
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
I have had no problems with this spoiling after even one to two month in moderate temperatures. However, I can't say what will happen in hot weather over extended periods. I store it in the freezer until leaving for the trip, and I have never had any issues.
@Aster-risque8 жыл бұрын
+Vegan Packer awesome, that was my plan anyways. I have a coconut curry sauce that I dehydrated for an upcoming trip, and I have it in the freezer right now. Was just wondering how everyone else does it!
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
Actually, I was just re-thinking this, and I had a leftover batch from last season (which I had carried on the trail for a while, in the heat) that I had sitting out at room temperature in my home, not even frozen, and I consumed it just under a year after making it, just to test. It tasted great, and there was no problem whatsoever.

Do you think I can sub in regular sugar instead of maple sugar? I do not have maple sugar.
@VeganPacker8 жыл бұрын
That will work. You can also use the lightest grade of maple syrup that you can find, although that will slightly increase the time required for dehydration. You can also use some of each. You may have to adjust amounts of sweetener a bit, since it will change the sweetness just a bit from the original recipe. It will still be delicious.

From BPL Looks like I previously sub’d your channel. Thanks for sharing this as I’m trying to add more vegan meals to my diet both in the front country and on the trail. Couple questions: 1 You discuss at the 10 minute mark some lazy options. Do you think a double boiler or a purpose built rice cooker would keep it hot enough but prevent it from sticking? 2 Sorry if I missed it but do you happen to know calories per serving? Thanks for sharing this. I’m looking forward to the next one!

Daniela and me just watched your adventure trip and it was impressive to watch, we just can't imagine how incredible it would be if we would see and experience all right there, not from camera. All was very organized - tent made very functional, food was made very tricky way so its stays fresh and doesn't take too much space, quick and easy to cook. The view of the mountains and the nature was just like from discovery channel, but once again - camera won't explain that true feeling. From diving to hiking - great job 👍
