yay ms dish ty for the vod !! ❤🧡💛 I agree with your opinion on the quests building up very slow with the pay-off being super intense. I personally really love the little details we learn about the lore and the characters as we move through the quest, but lately it's been so hard to even start with them because you just KNOW it is going to take a looong time to complete. especially now with the EN VA strike (which I fully support tho!!!), it's very mentally taxing for me to read through hours and hours of dialogue, and then getting a cutscene where your favourite characters don't even speak as pay-off just feels really sad to me :( I will forever love genshin's story and it's characters though, I just miss being able to just chill and do my nails with a quest on auto-play lmao 😭

Regarding quests, I don't see it as fluff as providing necessary context, establishing relationships, and fleshing out the world. It may seem like fluff from the start because we're not sure where the story is headed and how it will plan to use what it is building up to. And I don't think it would make sense to rush to emotional beats from the get-go, though maybe as a hook to the story. With Genshin especially as it plans to provide world building and touch on how each of their vast cast of characters play in the story, I think the slow parts play just as important a part. Sure, execution could be hit or miss, but I don't think we would get to know these characters deep enough to care if we spent less time with them. For this Lantern Rite, I think the first act was more about introducing Lan Yan than anything, since we know nothing about her yet. Second act is more about setting up the context for the third act to shine. Being a content creator I feel would definitely influence how you'd feel about a story's structure and pacing. I also more or less rushed through this Lantern Rite in the last two days. But I do appreciate the set up with the Rex Coin, seeing the prejudice(?) against Lan Yan's Qimen arts and it's use in the later acts, and little things like callbacks to other Baizhu's quest, Ying'er and Timaeus's relationship over the years, and even the developers jabbing us for our Archon slime theory.

I have been waiting for years for this! I am so ready! I hope you enjoyed the game as much as I did on my first playthrough!

This Lantern Rite had a lot of parallels to the Natlan Archon Quest (Hu Tao = Mavuika, Aether = Capitano, a death that must happen, him saving her in the end) it almost feels like a better and condensed version of it.

Again, i love when you do this format Dish! A lot of times the twitch chat can be very helpful when it comes to story, like giving other people perspective on it but most of the time it can also make a streamer lose focus or put that focus into being entertaining, i feel like recording helps absorb and analyse everything at your own pace. So i look forward to this more in the future! Be it on Genshin quests or other games.

I can already smell the emotional climax of this game, btw if you wanna dive back in those kind of games, i would recommend Inmost, its a puzzle/plattfomer kind of game on the surface but its storytelling and atmosphere makes it a very dark yet beautifully told story.

How I feel about genshin quests? They definitely have a lot of filler which I understand cause they have to give us monthly content. I'm not a streamer, but as a player the world quests are absolutely a must, and the archon quests are Def an experience especially if you do them at your own pace on time, (for natlan I explored the lands as they came out and got 100 on each in the span of the months they gave us. Much to my surprise it payed off considering those mini surprises of past characters making a comeback during the final act) I feel that being a streamer Def changes how you view a game considering you will see the game as potential content, ruining your experience. Genshins writing does need some work, but like all games they have some banger quests and some bad ones. They can't be all good, because it's a writing team, they have multiple visions and interpretations. I do appreciate that they at least try to connect and expand the world tho. Gives me lotr vibes, And the writing sn't just a genshin problem, on wuwa people were Complaining on how they couldn't understand shorekeepers quest. This lack of writing expertise happens to all gachas sadly. I do feel genshins direction is more restricted considering the goals they want to have and the demands players want. Game optimizations have been good but I feel it's best to express our voice through the feedback option or monthly surveys. People often never do that, and without enough people doing it, change won't happen. Overall my experience is a solid 8/10 not bad but overly good as a laid back player from the start. Maybe a 6/10 for newbies tho, considering their constantly adding new content that could confuse or overwhelm them

on the topic of quests in genshin, i have only been playing for a year and i agree with you on the pacing being quite slow and then a burst of emotion at the end.. i feel like i’d enjoy quests more if it was paced in a way where it was less time spent and more straight to the point, i also feel that with the lack of eng va work (which i understand completely and support) it’s been hard to engage with a lot of the main quests. idk, i’ve been playing a lot of nikki recently and have noticed the fluff in quests is so minimal.. it takes way less time to complete quests in nikki. but i have a soft spot for liyue and thoroughly enjoyed this lantern rite listening to the jp voice over. thanks for the upload dish ❤

I guess Lan Yan'a outfit feels kinda sumerian because she's from Chenyu Vale and that's kinds in between lyue fontainr and I guess Sumeru kinda, it feels like a separate region tbh

(in the story at least) the side games are actually really important so i don't think you should skip them. Hi miss Dish, I only catch you in VODs(twitch vods mostly) or live during work hours (not logged into my twitch on company's laptop for safety reasons). I want to give you a little tip (would love to give you 100 bitties for this): you can quickswap ability outfits from 1-8 on pc using your key numbers below the f1-12 keys. Not on the numpad numbers! But the numbers that has secondary !, ", # and so. And do not press shift for it. Just using the numbers function normally. Hope it makes sense?! It should making switching ability outfits smoother. All you need to do is to remember which numbers is associated with which ability outfits, ie 1 = grooming. 5 = gliding, etc. Thanks for keeping me company during work hours 😊
