If you restrict your ankle too much, your knee will take more of the pressure and you risk knee injury

Just had a very similar injury, twisted ankle outward 180', bike landing on it, no boots. Was going very slow, still tore up my ligaments.

70 on gravel, and in a turn. Yikes. Did your ankle completely heal up from that lowside 7 years ago? Am getting a baby ADV, a CB500X, and looking at options in that type of boot, something between "touring" and dirt. I'll be riding 80/20 road/gravel.

Thank you! Great info from a personal view, just what I needed. I am only on my second pair of actual moto boots, Tech 3 MX, before that was Forma Adventure. I moved up to more protection, less walking/shifting comfort. The adjustment is going slowly.

can I wear mc boots on street bikes?
@getawaymoto2495 Жыл бұрын
You can, but I prefer the dexterity of dedicated road boots, depending on what I am riding. What you are wearing will also limit what boots you run on the road. Things like full leathers, Kevlar jeans, and any shin/leg protection might limit your boot options.
@DanielVazquez Жыл бұрын
@@getawaymoto2495 side question, can I wear full leathers on the street for example when commuting in highways about 60 miles?
@getawaymoto2495 Жыл бұрын
@@DanielVazquez sure can!!! That would offer fantastic protection for your commute… depending on where you live it might be a little warm ;-)

I had my shinbone reaching for air through my pants. I will not consider buying any boot which isn't tall enough and without shin-protection.

Hi, I was searching for riding boots and accidentally meet your video. I am quite surprised after watching your video. You made this video 5 long years back but it's very informative and helpful. Back then there were very few good motorcycle related channels. Why you stopped making video. Are you active in other social media?? You should make more video, I like you video a lot.

Hey, how do you rate Alpine Tucans after few years? My Tech3 broke down after a year of use :-( The shoe on the bend fell apart, the material cracked, I am thinking now about buying an Alpine Tucan, maybe GORETEX will be more durable?

Pulling out of a parking lot on a big heavy cruiser, about 10 mph. Floorboard scraped and something grabbed the outside of my foot, twisted it, broke tibia and fibula. Went down when I stopped and tried to put my foot down. Ankle was fine. Rods and screws. Any sort of boot to keep your foot from twisting your leg in half?
@נוחיחזקאל2 жыл бұрын
A flat floor scooter. Available with engines up to 300 cu. cm. (26HP).
@getawaymoto2495 Жыл бұрын
Well, unfortunately twisting is hard to prevent. The most effective options I have seen are boots with internal hard ankle braces like the Astar tech10.

Planning to buy these. How is the built & quality on these ? How is the waterproof layering holding up ? What life do ya expect for these in terms or touring & mild off-roading ? Considering the specs I guess these are one of the best in terms of Looks/Protection/Comfort/Waterproofing out there in the market. I had TCX Baja GTX, Forma Terra Adv & AS tech 7 enduro also on mind. Which ya think will be an all season touring boot with good protection as well as life. ? I’m more confused between the Tech 7 Enduro & Toucans.
@getawaymoto24952 жыл бұрын
They are solid. They will be a little warm when it gets hot but I have never had an issue with the waterproofing.

What seemed like a masculine good idea at the time turned out to be a terrible idea throwing the boots around like a kid....tossing his toys mad, breaking stuff. In hindsight, he did have practidal review points worth watching. What I am curious about and wish somebody would answer is there a difference between trail riding boots and highway riding boots?
@oklahomahank23783 жыл бұрын
Trail boots have a stiffer upper and sole, and usually have more plastic armor. Obviously you can wear them on the Highway and be more protected, but you pretty much have to take them off to walk in and get a hamburger. Most trail riders prefer non waterproof boots for breathability. For long distance riding you do want waterproof boots.
@getawaymoto2495 Жыл бұрын
Not really trying to be masculine. Lol. More lighthearted entertainment. Oh well, different strokes for different folks. I am glad you liked some of the info though!!! As for trail vs road, trail boots tend to have more crush/impact protection vs road boots that tend to lean more towards slide protection and abrasion resistance.
