The strange music is better than the movie. I've downloaded it onto mp3 so I can play it with some mute silents I have. And as a previous comment has mentioned, the crosses are where intertitles should be. This is obviously a 'library' copy. The censor records could have the original intertitles, whatever the language.

Of more importance, what happened to the baby. It was there when hubby left, & moving around when she came back, but was never seen again. Only the two elder kids were shown afterwards. Did it die?

This movie is not included in Mary Pickford filmography in Wikipedia - in fact, it is listed there in the Erroneous credits segment. In IMDb Mary Pickford appears in the rest of the cast - in the role of invalid daughter - but it is difficult to recognize her in this video

It is crazy how he managed to make this movie depicting the mistreatment of the indigenous people by white Americans, yet and is 1915 film the birth of a nation, he depicts the Ku Klux Klan as the heroes against people of color who were depicted as evil And villains

Adding onto this part of me wants to believe that he was not racist, and in fact, uneducated about his history when it came to the treatment of colored people. At the end of the day, it was a different time. And I cannot say for certain how American people had felt.
