Can and will this treat an x-thrush infection that is not in the sole? I ask because while my mare's hoof is clear of thrush, the powder-like unexfolliated sole smells like stinky feet.

Hi ! This was wonderful to watch & very helpful 👌⭐️ Buck is so STUNNING 🥰 I’m recovering from A right total hip replacement so my two gorgeous mares have had 13 weeks off All 3 of us were pretty fit , I did prehab to the best of my ability & rode nearly every day luckily riding didn’t affect my hip , like every thing else did ( I had dropped a few kilos too ) as I know from previous back surgery years ago how fast it can pile on in recovery! I have walked my girls today just in straight lines and over a few poles , will walk them whilst I’m still recovering Aiming to pop on for just 30 mins of just straight walking next week Thank you again 😊

Smart horses will figure out that they can get loose when they walk backwards. So tie a knot in end of leadrope to prevent this. For a horse that will set back and keep pulling to get loose, they will break the snap or string once they hit the knot on leadrope. For those types use a stout post and an inner tube. Make sure to use a rope halter and a leadrope tied to it. No snaps to break is really important. The give in the inner tube keeps them from hurting neck, but they can't break anything to get loose.

Iodine can sting for sure but it does kill bacteria. Thrush and white line are different. Yes, formaldehyde does toughen up soles as well as nixing some bacteria. With white line, you have to expose it to the air to get to it. Keratex hoof hardener is a decent product for sole hardening and treating white line between farrier visits. Zinc oxide mixed with copper sulfate powder will kill sulcus and regular thrush. White vinegar and sulfate make a good soak for white line. Bottom line, no matter what you use, you have to do it every day until it's gone. I've found ACV sprayed on bottom of hoof every day or 2 to be great at keeping hooves bacteria free.

seems okay but I used a pail for mine. I made this custom painted brick style jump with artificial flowers on the sides. For the jump cups I then I took a regular pail as it's naturally round cut it into a third the size if it's a 5gal pail it will give you around 4 cups each will have a curve from that part of the pail and a piece of the bottom of the pail as an upstand to mount it to your jump post. 3inch PVC pipe is also really good for the poles.

Even simpler is a snaffle bit folded in half. Already made, no need to go to any sort of shop. Plenty of old snaffle bits lying around. Loose ring or eggbut, makes little difference.

Good idea. Could one do the hole in the back, pointed 45 deg down and shorter? So that there would be shorter pin, in the back, nothing sticking out. Or dies one not want that because it would collect water in the holes if you left the jumps out?

Sorry I never did, kinda gave up on KZbin. I liked making videos, It just takes up too much time. Maybe one day I'll get back to it. You have to put enough leverage on the side, but it will pop off. I so really like their stability and shock absorption qualities. It does make my knees feel alot better riding

Would hydrogen peroxide do the same? If you're boiling it out or is there another benefit to it? I'm also battling it on an older horse and we need to harden her hooves but I'm not really wanting to get what the farrier suggested which was formaldehyde and iodine mixed
@amateureventertales8484
@amateureventertales8484 3 жыл бұрын
Hydrogen peroxide is pretty caustic too and formaldehyde/iodine is very caustic and in my opinion an old wives tale that just dries them out...my personal opinion: I don't think there is anything you can put on topically that will actually harden hooves. You need more sole growth and I think a variety of surfaces for them to walk on will help stimulate that. I would try putting pea gravel around water trough or in areas they walk through often

@@amateureventertales8484 she has a large pasture that has lots of different terrain so it helps but this time of year everything is wet lol so other than moving we're stuck with squishy soft area. That Vetericyn stuff I've been using I really think has helped but he keeps telling me to use that mix and I'm not about to she's making progress with what I've been doing so I guess I'll keep on going with it!
