After driving Red Bull Ring a lot in my sim rig, yeah that corner sucks. It’s easy to misjudge the braking point and go really wide, but if you try to brake early and take a tight inside line, you’ll lose a lot of speed and get jostled around, because the elevation change is the most sudden at the inside of the corner.

Charles seems to get this corner right. Deliberately puts the car into a state of understeer to maintain mid corner speed but makes the corner slightly longer. He seems to be smoother and more consistent this wY

"Put the car into a state of understeer to maintain mid corner speed" - ugh, wanted to be rude, but I'll leave you with an explanation instead. What is turn 3? It is a slow uphill off-camber corner with the exit gear being first or second if you need the traction above anything else. After the corner is a straigth. You need to rotate the car ASAP and get on with accelerating. As such, the car needs to be rotated efficiently. If you overdo it you will struggle with exit traction and ruin your lap. Due to the corner's characterisitics it unloads the front wheels, which indeed makes the car understeer. However, if you understeer you will find the sausage kerb on the left side very quickly, be forced to slow down even more and ruin your lap. As you can see, the corner is extremely specific and difficult/ impossible to get right/an optimal line if the setup/the car's mechanical platform isn't there. To sum up, oversteer in T3 is bad, but nowhere near as bad as understeer. Actually, all the austrian corners prefer an "on-the-nose" balance with sharp turn-in.
