Believing that the universe is accidental isn't the same as thinking we are meaningless. We find meaning in empathy, art, social and personal development, knowledge, etc. The idea that there's no creator doesn't mean there's no meaning or pursuit.

@@Blakecheekk The fictional character Captain Schmidt says this towards the beginning of episode 16 while being interrogated for heresy: "A naturalist, I suppose? .. I worship those things where God resides. I'm not interested in anything man-made. That's why I have no need for your man-made teachings or salvation. An artificial god is out of the question. @Blakecheekk3 күн бұрын
@ “Taoism is a philosophy that focuses on living life according to the fundamental principle of Tao, which is the interplay between five elements and the interdependence between the macrocosm and the microcosm. It encourages passivity, calmness, and non-strife in order to achieve a vision of the transcendental world of the spirit.” i reject that and every other definition i’ve found online. this is not my first conversation about taoism i’ve known about it for years
@donapperson8483 күн бұрын
@ Okay. You reject Taoism. However some people find truth in it. Taoism is a more monist belief rather than a dualistic belief like Christianity - and some people cannot relate to that.

I never understood what solace atheists can find in nature, but i think this really puts things into perspective. When i moved away from God in my late teens/early twenties i started hating being alone surrounded by nature (something i always deeply enjoyed). To me being an atheist was never a happy or liberating condition and when i looked at the trees searching for that harmony and peace that i lost by abandoning God all i felt was dread. I found no answers or beauty, only complete meaninglessness. The trees would, just like you said, affirm my beliefs, they could never replace them with something better. I had to stop taking walks at night (and being alone with nothing to do in general), otherwise i would have mental breakdowns. There is absolutely nothing comforting in nature and i think it's the polar opposite of going to church; it's where you go when you want to be alone with yourself, whereas the church is a place of communion. Of course, had i been a "happy" atheist, with something other than God to give me some sense of meaning (that ironically almost always comes from other people rather than nature), the story would have been completely different, and it's funny that i moved back to Christ only after i learned to cope with those feelings. I found more peace and meaning watching this single video than i did in all the time i spent alone in nature. In fact, i find more inspiration in 1 minute of you casually speaking to a camera in a relaxed and casual manner than i do in watching hours of debates. God bless you.

I like your presentation but if I ask God that his will be done in my life then my will is his will. Jesus never will force you to do anything. He may change circumstances that will encourage his will but there is never a violation of free will. So in other words thankfully Jesus heard my prayer when I failed yet again and he changed my will as I prayed. He did not force his will on me as that would be imprisonment. Even if it was out of love. He did what I asked because I know and he knows I could not do it on my own. Praise Jesus!

It's great to wear the shirt, and get that question from children, or adults. But I think another good thing that comes from wearing the shirt, is that it would cause me to prepare myself BETTER for communicating/sharing the answer...which I wouldn't have been as well prepared without having that anticipation.
