Witches are my favorite Halloween monster. You did a great job. I'd love to see a video of her at night.

simply awesome! a ton of questions, however. what is the white box that is mounted to the frame? how did you run the power to the lights so the cords don't get tangled as she rotates? what kind of light did you use in the bottom of the broom? what is the material you used for the supports (i.e. aluminum)? are the counterweights filled with anything? can this withstand rain? How much torque is required to spin her? I have so many more questions, so little space....

@don48624 Don, I actually stripped the motor out of a cheap Harbor Freight drill press. It has a series of pulleys and belts attached to it to reduce the RPM. The final pulley is on a 40:1 right angle gear box. The witch boom is mounted on the low RPM shaft or that gear box.

wow great job love it what type of motor are you using

you can dip normal matches in a pot of melted wax, and when you do it with the whole thing, it increases the burn time two fold. you should try dipping your fat wood sticks in wax to further increase burn time.

Outstanding! I agree, innovative. Some descriptions of what you did would be appreciated!

@Caveman0713 Get out there and try it. I use this technique under all conditions and it is always my most reliable method of firestarting. Fatwood burns long, lights wet and stays lit in the wind better than anything else out there. The average burn time of one of these little matches is in the 60+ second range.

Great vid, I use an old pencil sharpener from a school...just split the sticks down where they fit in the hole, and give it a spin...lol I never pay for what I can get for free...5*

TheBeebopper, Probably because working with potassium chlorate and phosphorous (red) is just not very safe. Those that have tried often end up badly burned. Commercial matches have all kinds of additives in them to make them more stable.
