@23:19 it is 'gay' and not 'gai'. Correct me if I am wrong.
@SanskritToday7 күн бұрын
In Hindi, it is pronounced as 'gay'. But in Sanskrit, it is 'gai'
@bharatbshetty7 күн бұрын
@@SanskritToday No no. I meant that the answer on slide is wrong. It must be gay and not gai.
@SanskritToday7 күн бұрын
Answer in the slide seems right. Here is what it is. ग्(g) + ए(e) = गे (ge) ग्(g) + ऐ(ai) = गै (gai) (not gay as in Hindi)
@bharatbshetty7 күн бұрын
@@SanskritToday understood. Thanks for taking time to reply 🙏🏻 The key point to remember here is: this letter ए(e) (with no tick on shirorekha) when appended with any consonant, we get single tick on shirorekha. this letter ऐ(ai) (with single tick on shirorekha) when appended with any consonant, we get double tick on shirorekha. but in the case of this letter ओ (with single tick on shirorekha) when appended with any consonant, we get only single tick on shirorekha.

@3:19 is it 'faalam' or 'phaalam'? and how do differentiate between 'pha' and 'fha' in terms of letters? Please explain. Thanks in advance.
@SanskritToday7 күн бұрын
In Hindi, फ is pronounced as Fa/Fha. But in Sanskrit, it is Pha. Not Fha. (There is no Fha sound in Sanskrit). It is Phalam. Not Fhalam.

@@SanskritToday Wow. Interesting. Thank you
@bharatbshetty7 күн бұрын
@26:00 and 31:00 One easiest way to pronounce each 5 lines is: Line1: 5 letters come from throat Line2: 5 letters come from throat and upper palate and (first letter 'sha') Line3: 5 letters come when you touch tongue starting from upper palate and (second letter 'sha') Line4: 5 letters come when you touch tongue behind upper teeth (Now you can understand the 'pronunciation difference' between 3rd line 'na' and 4th line 'na') Line5: 5 letters come from lips

@2:34 the letter kha 'print' version (letter is not joined together) is different from what you have written!! (letter is joined together). Could you please explain?
@SanskritToday10 күн бұрын
The written and printed versions may differ in certain cases. In this case, you can lift your pen, leave a gap, and then continue writing to maintain the flow. However, it is equally fine if you choose to write continuously without a gap.
@bharatbshetty9 күн бұрын
@@SanskritToday Got it. But better to write it together as you show in videos as I see another problem of lookalike of letters ‘ra’ and ‘va’ when kha not joined.

The first letter which is k(in Hindi I mean), is actually a very short sound of क, but you are sounding it like (ik) which is not matching properly with vowels.
@agooglepage140018 күн бұрын
Pronunciation of last columns of consonants are not clear many are sounding similar and few are sounding different than what I am aware of. This needs to be explained clearly.

Such videos are meant for people who can understand a conversational Sanskrit but then do such people even need to learn such lessons since they already can converse in Sanskrit and presumably use correct grammar? IF you want to reach a wider audience, use one of the vernacular languages of India and give English subtitles. Otherwise you are wasting your time and effort!

This is the Laghu Siddhanta Kaumudi course. The prerequisite for this course is to know the basic Sanskrit thoroughly. This is for viewers with an intermediate to advanced understanding of conversational Sanskrit. So it’s intended as a resource for those looking to further polish their skills. You should complete 4 lower levels before watching this video. otherwise, surely, you'll find it challenging to follow. Pls find full list of courses for beginners from sanskrit.today/getting-started/ I suggest you spend time and effort learning basic Sanskrit. Till that you may skip this video. Thx for your comment.
