You're quite correct, but this video was made for students who think of mass as weight. You'll notice I refer to mass/weight even though we're measuring mass here, I know they're not the same thing. However, the requirement was to develop their ability to convert units of mass in everyday circumstances. In everyday life mass is going to be referred to as weight - it would actually hinder their understanding in many cases if I insisted on using the term "mass".
