I use a train transformer for break in. It is adjustable and works great. I have alligator clamps on the wires I clip to the shoes. Polish is not needed. A nice pencil eraser works awesome for cleaning armature.
@nitromancer64603 күн бұрын
@jettafixer7 The train transformer would be great. The polish is probably overkill but if I’ve got them apart I figure might as well clean them really well.

From what I found from the 68 Indy 500 entry list….. Jim McElreath or Carl Williams?
@nitromancer64609 күн бұрын
@boholde2757 It’s the car Carl Williams drove in the Indy 500. It’s virtually identical to Foyt’s car but there are four flush rivers that hold an ignition module that are just slightly different.

there is one in los angeles with straight body but with minor rust around the windshield. i think the guys is going to sell it. i did not bother to ask since i dont have extra money for a project car LOL
@nitromancer64609 күн бұрын
@Evendimata Thanks. The rust around the drivers side windshield often indicates corrosion from the battery which sits right in front of the driver. Back in the 70s the batteries leaked acid and corroded that whole area eventually ruining the structure (frame) of the car.

Cool Manta! more sport coupe than sports car since they were making the GT then. I like to think what we crazy people are doing is stuartship, trying to keep them in some state preservation for the next gen, ya hope anyway...

Thank you for sharing. You pretty much hit it. An older car is for fun. It's not an investment. However, whatever you spend for purchase and repair is much less than the cost of a new car. You have something different from the amoebas everyone else drives. It's wise to have one that's in good condition, but not perfect, so you don't have to worry, and can drive it anywhere anytime. That's all year here in California. Happy Motoring.

THE MEGA G IS FASTER AND BETTER HANDLING THAN THE MEGA G+.....😊
@nitromancer64606 күн бұрын
I haven’t really raced the Mega G cars, I know some really love them. But what we do is race identical cars together - Mega G vs Mega G or Mega G+ vs Mega G+ - so it doesn’t matter if one type is faster. Both types run very well without any additional parts or expertise required. I like how the current Mega G+ cars run and they are readily available. Thanks for the comment.

Tip for anyone who sees this and wants to make your cars run very even and not wanting to buy a lot of performance parts to do so. Get 4 or more chassis that run fairly close to one another. Check the armature ohms if you have a meter- 16 + or 17+ ohms will be your best. Then check all tolerances and parts fitments, then obtain more idler gears (Aurora AFX or T-jets) and AFX magnets(they come in all strengths so best to measure the strength of each regardless of colors) and begin the process of swapping parts (first the magnets and idler gears {the black AFX(non mag) and TUFF ONES idler gears are preferred} and if you have just one it will be a good base test gear, but some of the brass do well also(mark them diff colors to know which is which good/fast, medium or bad/slow) -- and then you can buy very nice idlers from DASH which are very inexpensive, one of the best and congruent in performance) .. and now running two chassis together in front of one another and swap parts to see if they get to be about the same speed at higher speeds(they may and most likely will be different at slower speed . also using the same size and brand silicone tires. Enjoy -Slot on !

Nice Find And A Fair Deal . I Just Subbed. The Slot Car Stuff. I Got Those Controllers Today . One Worked Perfect Right out Of the Box . The Other Russkiy I Had to Use One of the Tyco Resistors. Yeah Well , I Thank You For The Idea . Not Everyone Can Afford What The Other Controllers Cost ! Plus I Too Have Big Size Hands . I'm Running Autoworld Cars on A Older Tyco Track They Run Perfect. But The Controllers Are Small . So If I Find the Older AFX Aurora Controllers Cheap Enough. I Will Try This . Do the Tyco Have The Same Resistors As The 120 Ohm New Aurora AFX ? Anyways Whatever the Resistance is In My Controller is Perfect. Just Would Also Like The Old Size Controller.
@nitromancer6460Ай бұрын
@wayneo7307 I apologize for the late reply but I just noticed your comment. I think if you find the Aurora “RussKit” controllers that are yellow and are the ones that use screws to hold them together you’ll be pretty pleased with them. Note: the ones without screws are smaller like your Tycos. The yellow ones are typically 45 ohms which will work well with Auto World cars. An adjustable voltage power supply is also a nice upgrade, it allows you to tune the speed of your cars to the size of your track and skill of your racers.
