This is the moment Rory realized she would have to choose between her what her mom taught her and what her grandparents did. Is she good enough for Logan? Yes but that’s not what they want. They want a classic society wife like Emily that will put her aspirations to the side to support her husband’s. In this scene Rory didn’t even think people would look down on her because she had one foot 🦶 in society and one out. Knowing what we know now, she would have been better off leaving her aspirations behind and marrying Logan. At least she would have been rich. Of course, she would have never been happy and she would have regretted not taking a chance on her career. But all her life her mom had wanted her to go the Harvard… a very elitist school (so clearly something her parents told her stuck with her) and she just assumed that Rory would somehow come out of it the same. As if hanging out with all these rich white brats and going to the same social functions would have not have altered her complete world view. Laughable now as we know you are who you hang out with. And yes Marty was a guy like her that came from working class but Lorelai really set up her kid for failure if she thought that not being in the same social circles wasn’t going to help push her daughter in her career and you need to know people in the industry. Another big mistake Rory made…not utilizing her connection to the Huntzberger name. That was Mitchum was really talking about. She didn’t take advantage of it because it felt like cheating but really it was separates you from your competition and that’s what really life is like. Making friends with the right people. And anyone that hadn’t had that connection would have bent over backwards to achieve it. Rory had it at her disposal but choose to try to do it on merit alone. A fruitless endeavor.

I agree Rory did a HORRIBLE thing. dean told her that it was bad for both of them and that they were going to end it eventually. Rory didn’t know. All tho, she still shouldn’t have slept with a MARRIED guy before he left his wife (Lindsay). it was also deans choice. dean was very insecure and clingy throughout the show. Rory’s mom, Lorelei, did do a good thing. Whenever Dean came over and it first happened, Lorelei told her daughter to stop. remember guys, Dean knew this was wrong to and never ended this with Lindsay which Rory thought he would. And Rory did make a big step, by writing a note explaining, “that night was special and I won’t forget it but you are married and I don’t want to be the other girl” something like that. I think that Rory made a good decision, it was hard because she loved him. But it was mostly hard for Lindsay watching her own husband cheat on him when she tried her best. I agree partly, Lindsay’s mom had every right to be mad at Rory and tell her what she thinks. All tho it came off a little immature. The wrong thing was to continue a relationship with Dean, like bud he was married already once and you were the other girl. It’s kind of just rubbing it in Lindsay’s nose. Rory was never really a good girlfriend to Dean in earlier seasons considering she lead HIM on when she liked Jess. And then Dean broke up with her and she acted all innocent. however in season 1, Dean broke up with Rory because Rory didn’t tell him she loved him. Dean was kinda inpatient. Rory’s excuse for sleeping with dean when he was married was that she was hers first. That’s not how it works, sorry.. but Dean and Lindsay always fought, and Dean told her that, Rory kinda assumed they were going to get divorced so they did it.

As I watched this scene a few times between Rory and Doyle reviewing the article, I could see that she was upset and I know she put so much effort but at the same time you won’t get good results. Doyle corrected it right away what’s good and what's not, doesn't need to read the whole thing (I'm not the journalist expert). If she really wants to be a journalist, then she needs to accept the criticism. If it's too much for her, then she should look for another career.
